Zoo Fieldtrip

I got to go to the zoo with Z's class.  This was my group of 4 - - yes all in the same grade level class.  :)   Looks like I had 5-10 year olds.  :)   But they were a good group and we had fun!   They aren't getting ready for the pledge - I told them to cover up their name tags.  They were so excited to see this white alligator!  :)

I loooked at more snakes, spider, toads, etc. than ever before on this zoo trip.   Of course they were telling me what classification they belonged in as asked to by their teacher  . . . or maybe boys are just more into those animals?      I never noticed this Emerald Tree Boa before.  

When we came up to this lion . . . there was this noise . . . I think the lion was waking up and it was part of the stretching routine . . . it had gone on so long everyone was noticing - so I got my camera out . . . I got the last end of it.

Slugger Fieldtrip

I got to go with B on her class fieldtrip!  She had never been here before!  We watched a short film, looked around the museum, then toured the factory.   For competitor reasons - we couldn't take pictures IN the factory part.  :)  Below she is holding an actualy bat Mickey Mantle once used.

Fun trip!

Cast off!!!

They used a saw to get through the outer hard layer  . . . with a vacumn to suck up the dust. . .

         Then used scissors for the underneath softer layers - then she had her arm back . . dirt, dry skin and all!

"Feels weird."      After it being on for 5 weeks she was nervous to do any activities for the first few days . . . she didn't feel the safe supportiveness of that cast.  :)

Book Parade!!!

Ak's class did "The Grinch who Stole Christmas"  Z's class did "Bubblegum Monster" and B's class carried the book posters that they did individually.   D and I sat alone (a first) and kids threw us candy . . . we tried to tell them to keep it for others with kids at the end of the trail - but they threw it at us anyway.  :) 

Visitors!!!

Grandpa Paul and Grandma Debbie came for a visit!!!

             They came with us to a play that we had some friends acting in!   Then went out for Chinese!  Yum!

                          They brought a bingo set - official looking - numbered ball spin cage and everything!

       And they brought prizes!!!!  So each time some one won - they got to pick a prize from the prize station!!!! 

 When Gpa Paul won - he let someone go pick a prize in his place.  :)   After about 8 times - I had NOT one once . . .  I had stuck with the same card all that time - then I switched it and . . . . the next game - I won!!!

School Pictures PLUS

 Picture Day at school!!!   I didn't send out last years yet - so I only bought Ak's this year.   :)   Is that crazy/cheap of me or what?!  :) 

 B had to do a book poster for school . . . She did a great job and got a 100% !!!!!   I have a picture of me and book poster at that age - I should find it and post it to see if there are any similarities . . . someone might have to remind me.   And here's Z with a new hangind upside down trick!  ;)

 I got a surprise call asking me to come to the school on a certain day - because Ak was going to be on the morning announcements getting an award from the principal!!!  :)   I got to go see and take pictures!  The school gives out a citizinship award as a Student of the Month - one kid per grade level.   She was chosen in Kindergarten for "modeling the character trait, "Responsibility.""    Good job Ak!!!!  :)  She had her picture taken with her certificate and it was displayed on a bulletin board for the month!  And she had her picture in the newspaper!  :) 

3rd Labor Day Weekend Celebration of Life

D was off work this Friday and was home to get the kids off the bus - they were so excited knowing that we were going off for the weekend!!!   

 

 Then Uncle Matt showed up to ride with us to . . .

Mammaw and AJ met us there at our cabin!!!  AJ got right to work by making D a belated birthday pie . . . with a make shift bowl.  :)   Z lost a tooth that night too!!!

The next morning - D took Z golfing with Uncle Matt and we went to a free little festival there in the park.

Then we bought a funnel cake, ice cream cone, and train ride. 

Then we all met back up for some mini-golf and more of the festival with a High School steel drum band!

When Uncle Matt saw some FRIED green beans - he thought of me and said we had to try them.  :)  They were okay - but not as good as fried okra.  :)   D had to get a funnel cake too!

 It was supposed to rain all weekend - so we left the bikes at home  - and it didn't rain much.   To fill the time before dinner I took the kids to the lodge pool just for an hour - poor B couldn't do very much with her cast.

 Thanks Mammaw for finding this place - we had a good time!!!!  And thanks for the help with the kids!

We had a good time being together in your honor Ben!!!  We love and miss you!!!
