Labor Day...We've almost started a tradition

Jorrin and Bridger were down so we decided to head to Pine Valley and get out of the heat for Labor Day.  By the time we got there all the spots were gone but luckily as we were driving by someone pulled out of a perfect day spot.  It was right by the lake and was just shady enough.  We played games, ate, talked, relaxed, and then took a fun walk to the amphitheater where the girls came up with a new game.  Involving soccer and freeze tag and throw ins.  I was laughing so hard at jor kicking the ball compared to the other girls.  But she hung in there and even got to the final rounds a couple of times. It was a fun day together that I will always treasure in my memories.  Hopefully we can do it again for a third year.

Jantzyn sophomore year of soccer at a new school

Jantzyn went to high school soccer camp in June.  They went to the RSL camp.  She was a little nervous not knowing very many of the girls but she absolutely loved every minute of it.  Even though she got a concussion she still said it was worth it.  She got really close with one of her heat team mates that she didn't know very well before and got to know a couple of the other girls also.  She was also surprised that they played together better then she thought they would winning some games and even keeping up with Desert Hills.  She loved getting to know the coaches and it helped her to know again that her decision was the right one.

Jantzyn goes through cleats every six months-nine months and she was ready for some new ones when school started.  She found some bright orange and white ones that will keep her cool and looking stylish while on the field.. haha

The high school tryouts were the first of August.  She was excited to try out and worked very hard during tryouts.  She ended up scoring the highest of all the girls trying out and because of that was able to pick her uniform number first.  She of course picked 16 and was so excited to follow in her sister's foot steps.

The team did lots of team building/bonding get togethers during the summer and the season.  She loved getting to know all the girls more.  Her and Emalee have ended up being best friends and she has made a fun new group of kids to hang out with.

Making the team celebration lunch at Durangos

One thing Crimson does that snow canyon doesn't is has a Red/White scrimmage when the varsity plays the JV. And they announce the girls and captains.  The captains this year were chosen by the girls and Jantzyn was chosen as one of the JV captains.  All the girls really like Jantzyn and were sad she's not able to play any varsity.  They have rallied around her and want to win for her.  As a parent it was very special to see how happy she has been playing on this team.  Even though it was hard not getting to play any varsity she grew so much as a person, player and leader this year.

Jantzyn and Emalee battling for the ball.  I love the smile on her face!! This girl loves this game

The girls had to sell starving student cards.  But I just love how she's friends with the tallest girls on the team..haha

Their first game was against most of the other heat girls on PV.  Jv won this game and varsity held their own.

After game tradition of all the girls from each school together.  Heat will always be "Their first team"

Because of some major problems with the turf at the school they had to play their first home game at the park in little valley.   The parents did our best to make it feel as homey as we could.  We even had some catering trucks come to make it a fun event.

Desert Hills was nice enough to let the girls switch the home site and we played them at D Hills first.

All the girls from these two teams together!

Home game day attire.

Jantzyn after the first home football game.

Jantzyn has always come home beat up after games.  This season was no different.  One of the many soccer "owies".

The girls ended up winning the first ever play off game against Juan Diego.  It was a hard faught game that ended up in a shoot out.  Jantzyn's friend Emalee shot the game winning goal.

After they lost in the quarter finals against Green Canyon.  These two besties!
