Snaggle Tooth Thompson

So we were at Demos's restaurant celebrating Jay's birthday and Jake kept sticking his napkin in his mouth and then yanking it out. Jay was about to tell him to stop when he noticed that he yanked out his tooth. As his mouth filled with blood, he started to freak out a little bit. So I started clapping and screaming, "Jake, you lost your tooth...What a big boy!" and so on..so he would not cry. It's funny because he has been worried that he wasn't going to lose any teeth because all of his friends have. He didn't have any teeth at a year old so it does make sense that his took so long to come out. I am sure that Riggs will probably lose one soon because he always does things right after Jake. At least that's how things have happened so far. The weird thing was that the tooth wasn't even loose. I had just felt them only weeks ago and they didn't give one bit. At the end of dinner, the waitress took our picture and brought Jay's cake. I will always remember what day Jake lost his first tooth!

MCA Back to School Swim

The MCA back to school swim is always a blast! Not only do my kids love it, but it's a great time to hang out with my students outside of school. They are so funny...it seems like it was only yesterday when I was their age. Their hair and makeup had to be just right for this event!!.... I am very lucky to get to work with such sweet children. They are all a blessing and have a true heart for God!

First Grade Bible Presentation

This morning at church, the first graders were presented Bibles, which has been a tradition for many years. Entering first grade is a special milestone in every child's life and a time which he will learn how to read God's word. Since they can actually read now, the Bibles are on a child's level so they can easily understand it. It was a neat ceremony and Jake seemed to enjoy it! He was a little nervous but not as nervous as the boy who had to lead the song! Sorry the pics are blurry but I can't seem to take good pictures in auditoriums; the same thing happens at school. I have tried everything.

Harvest Time!!

Although we planted a little late this year , we are finally seeing the fruits of our labor. The children have enjoyed watching things grow on a daily basis. This year we planted tomatoes, jalapenos, squash, watermelon (although we planted the previous year and it still grew), pumpkin, and basil, mint, parsley. Unlike other summers we have had plenty of rain so we haven't had to water too much. It has been a fun experience!

Back to school!

It was very tough, especially on little Riggsy, who has been sleeping until about 10 or 11 every morning. He even slept in his clothes so he would not have to take time to dress. He doesn't want to miss any extra minutes of sleep ya know! However, It was a great first day. Jake is in first and Riggs is in kindergarten bridge. One of them was not into taking pictures that day..betcha can't guess which one!

Back to Arrington............

So we went back to Arrington Vineyards for my birthday. My good friends Traci and Julie made a delicious spread for us to eat and the weather turned out to be beautiful. I highly recommend it even if you have to take the kiddos; there were plenty of families out on the lawns. It's a great place for a picnic and the music and atmosphere is breathtaking...and don't think you have to take fru fru food, KFC is perfectly welcome.
