A Kansas City Christmas!

We love having Christmas at our house... but we also love to go back to KC to spend some time with our extended family, most of whom live there. It's always fun to see everyone again and catch up on what's been going on during the year. A good time is had by all! Sorry for all the FB repeats... but I must blog for the blog book! :)

We love to hotel it on our visits.....the kids love jumping on the beds! :)

Allison got a few new items for Christmas and chose to wear this one at our first Christmas celebration. After I took this picture she told me to take it at a different angle because this one made her look short..... um, okay....

And she was right- a head-on angle made her look more her normal height. Who knew? :)

Our first celebration was a "Loudenback Christmas", held at Scott's brother's house. We had fun playing a game of "bob for candy canes". Here's Allison, challenging her cousin Abby to a game. It was harder than it looks!

Aaron takes on cousin Caroline. He worked harder to make sure the other person didn't get any than trying to get any himself. :)

Allison received a game of Guesstures from Aunt Jenny, so we all played. It was so much fun!

Aaron opens a gift from Aunt Sheila and Uncle Jeff...

and he loved it!!!

Aaron gets a new hat from Aunt Jenny and Allison gets a new leotard from Aunt Sheila and Uncle Jeff. Both were BIG hits!!

We were thrilled that Grandma Judie came in town from Denver to celebrate Christmas! :)

In between Christmas celebrations we had a little time to hang out in KC. We discovered a really cool sporting goods store and had a blast touring it. I say touring because it was HUGE!! The kids enjoyed the aquarium and gave me cute fish faces for a pic!

Seriously? A huge ferris wheel in the store? Of course the kids were all about riding this!

Dad and I watched from below- it was a great ride- and just $2! :) We can't wait to go back!

Allison was lucky that we were feeling generous so soon after Christmas. She scored a new outfit... Aaron scored a new Royals World Series t-shirt!

Scott wanted to eat at his favorite pizza place in town, so we went there to watch the Chiefs game. Since Aaron got a card holder from Santa, playing gin is much easier. During the game, Allison and I ditched the boys and went to visit a dear friend of mine. It was great to catch up!

Later that afternoon we dropped Allison off at a friend's house for an overnight and brought Aaron to Nana and Papaws for his overnight. What? We were ALONE!!???!! This rarely happens, so we took off to Jack Stack to enjoy KC's best BBQ and an evening to ourselves. It was heaven... the BBQ and the alone time!

The next evening we headed to Mom and Dad's retirement village for a "Hartzler Christmas". Aaron and his cousin Cooper picked up right where they left off last year. These two get along so well and just laugh and laugh when they are together!

Cooper's younger brothers, Jaxson and Jacen, open gifts from us. Are they cuties or what?

Jacen watches as Aaron opens his gifts.

Allison was happy to receive a calendar (that she's already written all over with events coming up!) from cousin Julie!

Julie and new hubby Alan, check out a popcorn maker they opened as a white elephant gift. We had a great time at the exchange. I scored a similar popcorn maker and Scott got an awesome Christmas print to hang next year that counts down the days till Santa arrives! :)

We took out Guesstures and had some more charades fun with my side of the family. My niece's husband Zach got into the action and did a great job!

My brother's expressions cracked me up!

The kids continued to play after the adults lost interest. I'm hoping for more pictures to come from my mom. She got my kids and her great grand kids all matching pajamas. They were adorable!! We took group pictures, but none are on my camera, so as soon as she sends them to me, I'll post! :)

Merry Christmas... 2015!

The house looks like a tornado came through it, there are presents everywhere that need to be put away, everyone is wearing something new, and my stomach is aching from too much SUGAR! All signs that we had a great Christmas, but that it's time to look forward to 2016 and make it a great year!

Here's a look at our festivities!

I love the tradition we started with giving our kids new jammies on Christmas Eve. My parents did this when my brother and I were young, and it was always fun. This way, they always look nice on Christmas morning. :)

Their expressions when they discovered I bought them the exact same pair. I guess they prefer having their OWN look? :) Live and learn. :)

Trying to pose doing the splits... Aaron is not quite ready for this, and they were being so funny!

Finally got the obligatory picture of them in their new duds!

We fed the reindeer and put the cookies and milk out for Santa... so it was time for Dad to read The Night Before Christmas to the kids. I don't know why, but every year I take 100 (okay, maybe 30) pictures of them doing this, and none of them really turn out great. Oh well, I documented that it happened, right?

I LOVE Christmas morning faces- they are the BEST!

Checking out all that Santa brought them!

Aaron got a brand new Wii system!

And some fun things... like a TKD ornament!

Santa brought Allison a 3-D pen. I can't wait to see what she creates with this!

Zoey got a brand new toy from Santa- she LOVES it!

Love the fake fire on the tv... with Christmas music playing. And our pretty tree. And the kids looking so stinkin' cute. It was a great day!

It was fun to give them some gifts we'd picked up in Europe. :) When Allison face-timed with her buddy Katie later in the day, they were both wearing the same shirt. Hysterical!

She LOVED the big book Aaron got her!

And he loved his new Chiefs gear. He wore it the next time they played- and they won... AGAIN! :)

This is what Allison picked out for Aaron!

They each received a coupon for some private lessons in their favorite sport!

Allison had "a fuzzy, comfy robe" on her list.

And Aaron had a "sports themed stuffed animal". Scott found him a Nebraska Herbie Husker that turns into a football- huge hit!

Herbie... being tucked into the football!

Her very own phone! She can use a few apps and make phone calls.... but it'll be awhile before she can earn all the fun stuff she really wants to do on it! :) But this way we can start experimenting with leaving her home alone for short periods of time.

One of my favorite gifts was this awesome picture from Paris (the kids and I are walking on the path)  that Scott blew up and framed for me.

Allison felt sorry for me that I was always packing my toiletries in baggies when we traveled.... so she bought me a wonderful travel pack to put things in- I used it on our KC trip and it worked GREAT!

Not too sad about her losing the emoji pillow at the gymnastics party- she had one under the tree!

She did a wonderful job picking out some new jewelry for me!

Aaron loved his Laser Maze from Grandma Sonja!

And Allison was thrilled to open a huge box of glitter from Grandma Sonja!

I love Allison's expression- a fun game they can BOTH play with!

Allison did the sweetest thing for us this Christmas. She took several clay creations she'd previously made for us and re-made them, better than before. With each creation she attached a little poem about it. It was just darling!

A collection of our before/now creations... and the cute little poems that came with them!

The kids got Dad a new Apple TV. He LOVED it! :)

Stay tuned for our KC Christmas pics... coming soon!
