You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land, there is no other life but this.” ~Henry David Thoreau

What a Cozy room!

Some of my girlfriends have asked for me to post the projects I have been working on. Here is the latest....
The color of Cozy's room was suppose to be more purple than pink, but the swatch of paint was very deceiving. I did the ceiling just like Atticus room...a sky mural. I have kept the art I did of the cookies, lollipop, cupcake, icecream, etc and the theme of "sweets" is still obvious!
She is still in her round crib and will be for a while (I think Atticus was 2 1/2 when we switched him and it was much too early). I might paint one of the walls white to off-set the brightness of the color, but for now the purplish-pink is growing on me! A star light hangs above the rocking chair, but I haven't put that up yet!
The last photo is showing how Cozy is dressing herself these days. If it's not a swimsuit we're happy!

Dinner with MIMI

It is always fun visiting Mimi's! We had fun going to the castle park, getting slurpees, seeing Horton Hears a Who, and eating at Teppan Yaki (one of those benihana type places where the chef makes the food right in front of you!)
Cozy is our thrill seeker always hanging on high bars at the park, climbing all over the kitchen, doing "cheer" stuns with dad, etc. She really liked the fire that went up at each table as the chef cooked the food! ~Thanks MIMI!

Mike & Shelli's wedding....

Benny's brother Mike got married April 10th in the Manti temple in Utah.
We are learning that being out in the sticks calls for quite an adventure to get anywhere. We first drove 3 hrs to the Seattle airport to then fly 2- hrs to Utah. We got a rental car and stayed 30 min. up north at my moms in fruit heights. Thursday morning we left the kids with my mom to then road trip 2 hrs to Manti, back again, and then to the party. The kids were troopers and I now understand why men love gadgets like the GPS!
The ceremony was very special with all children of the Dames present plus Granny Simms who has been a member since 2006! Not a dry eye in the house!Another thing was that Benny's folks were married there and this has been the first time they have been back since. How cool that they have returned after many years with such a legacy! All in aLL, It was a neat experience and we were so happy to be apart of it!
Next adventure....Spokane & CA!

ATTICUS' new room!

During spring break I decided to finally put some color on the walls! Our house was painted with a light tan and after the winter it starting to really bug!
Atticus' room~ sky ceiling, blue walls and a big bold retro green stripe.
I also bought some clearance rugs from Land of Nod for both kids rooms. Atticus still wants a big soccer ball on the wall like his uncle Andy has....I will have to figure that one out later! His room is very "tranquil". I love to lay on his blue elephant bedding and look at the planet mobile with the sky background!

Weekend in Seattle

Ironically, rural America has become viewed by a growing number of Americans as having a higher quality of life not because of what it has, but rather because of what it does not have! ~Don A. Dillman
We enjoyed the weekend away in Seattle to see family (my sister) and friends, but realize each time we go how much we appreciate the simple place we live. I always love a good aggressive drive through the downtown streets of Seattle and to go and find "stuff" everywhere I possibly can. The smell of Seattle rain is always a memory in itself and it's always a wonder what all the people downtown do and how they spend their day. The kids were great travelers & we are happy to be home with lots of Spring Break projects to do. Dad will be the lone doctor at work this week and I am sure will stay very busy.
Photos from our weekend in Seattle~
~Snoquamie Falls for a pit stop on our way to Seattle. It started to snow flurry as we were leaving.
~Atticus & Cozy got to choose where to have lunch...hmmm, I wonder where that would be? Atticus told Cozy that you "get a kitty in the happy meal" so she, of course, went along with going there. This Mcdonalds outing is a big deal since our nearest crap food hole is 45 minutes away (we are glad of that!). I was surprised to see Cozy the non-meat-eater eat half of her hamburger...I guess she was hungry?! The adults ate elsewhere.
~We got to see lots of friends (Sorensens,Jensens & The Webers) and AUNT MIA! Lincoln Park on Sunday where Benny taught Mia the art of skipping rocks! Cozy went from saying Meana to Mia by the end of the trip!
