I'm in a slump today, and also in a mood to write, but just not on my personal blog (I'll provide context soon). So here I am :) If you are reading this, I likely would have moved on with my slump
I'm not sure how Google statistics work, but apparently, people still view this blog. They could all be me, but I really can't explain the 100+ views in August 2018. Spambots? Because I don't think people read this space anymore.
For those who don't follow my life anymore (which I think is pretty much everyone), I'm a teacher now. I have no issues saying where I teach, but I'm not posting here just so that I don't leave an online public trail (plausible deniability). You can always PM me to find out. But suffice to say, the school I am in now is very different from DHS.
As to why I teach, well I took on the MOE Teaching Award in 2012. As to why I took that...I particularly like this quote from Assassination Classroom.
I guess for me it's a little bit of both. I think the times in 3i/4i are what I hope to see in classes I teach, although I recognise that the strongest class spirit are built by the students, not the teachers.
So back to my slump. That is from expectations for my students who didn't manage to meet them. It's not about grades. It's just homework submission -.- While as students we don't submit work from time to time, I don't think it's as bad as having half the class ignoring deadlines (without reason).
So there is self-doubt, whether I am too nice (which doesn't benefit students), or whether I am expecting too much from them. I really hope not though, because I hope to not be a teacher that lowers my expectations just so that I don't get disappointed.
So it's a night of writing other stuff, preparing work, and procrastinating. I ended up on my really really old blog, then I ended up here finding sec 4 level camp photos to share with my EL classes (I teach English! Surprise surprise! To think Geneve had this incredulous look and laugh when she realised I read (yes I still remember)). I read a few posts, and...well decided to write my thoughts here.
As to why not do so on my personal blog (both old and new), I guess I just feel more secure that students won't find this here, given that my old blog is defunct, and my new blog doesn't link to this space. Though I won't put it past a crazy student of mine to eventually find this space, so hi if you are my student and reading this.
Revisiting this space helps. It reminds me of when I was a student myself, and when we were a class. I don't think we were particularly motivated (though I think most of us still did enough work) until Y4 promotion. We had a lot of class moments though, including the shit stirring ones. But I still remember Mr Yap (I think...our maths teacher in Y4) saying in a PTM that we have a bond that are stronger than how a normal class is. I don't think I fully appreciated his words until I came to teach classes myself.
Well, I'm more or less done here. My ramblings did help to stabilise my heart a little, and if you're interested enough to be coming here and read this (perhaps you need to find something intangible from this space as well), I thank you for doing so. I hope my writing ability has improved.
On a side note, with reference to the graduation photo post (about 4-5 posts back), Photobucket seems weird now, as if it might force all its customers to subscribe to a plan now. So I've downloaded all the photos just in case. If the account ever gets locked, and you want photos, just let me know, no matter how long we have not talked to each other :)

How is everyone?
Probably working, or studying really hard and not reading this blog already.
It's been 10 years already.
Just reminding you how old you are.
Cheers :)

So guys,
It's me again :) How are you guys?
It's been 8 years since we met as a class. 8 years is a really long time. Now, some of us are busy studying in university, some of us are already working. Some of us are even pursuing life elsewhere.
Apologies though for not having class outings planned, it's been a somewhat busy period for me in university. Not to mention the ups and downs that happen in life. Also, it's hard to find a common date that can fit you guys. And...after so long, I think some of us have already moved on and 4i is merely a period of happy (or sad) memories.
Well for me, life is...too much to summarise here. Those who follow me on my personal blog will know better. I've been doing a lot in university and I really think it made me grow from the stupid teenager I was 15-16 years ago. I'm probably still as lame as every. I hope everyone also had their own trials, and their own happy stories, and from what I see on facebook for some people, you guys are leading amazing lives of your own. Especially dear Lee Wei Liang, his facebook account seems to be shared by multiple people.
Sometimes as I think about how tiring uni life is, I flashback to our days in 3i/4i, where there were a lot less worries, all we had were school, CCAs, and each other. Where the worries we had seemed so big to us then but to us now would probably be another minor matter. Where classmates are more permanent and we know that despite each tiring school day, going to school also means seeing our beloved class. Where stupid funny moments like Wei Liang getting bullied and Yuan Ming angst-ing teachers happen. Where we know some people that we can share our worries and our troubles to.
I still remember the fun class outings and especially class chalets. And our sec 4 level camp, which felt like a holiday more than anything else.
Ok I'm more of less done with nostalgia. I was bored from studying and came and check out this blog and viola, grace said hi :) So hopefully this can spice up the visit for the next person who says hi.

Oh my, there's a Zhi Yin's brain soup for sell. That's probably why 3J'06 is so smart.
Just so you know, 3J'06 used our blackboard before. And yes, just to refresh you, we used to have a blackboard. If I'm not wrong, it's currently sitting in Edwin's house.
And just a curious thought. If the world is going to end on 21 Dec 2012...Should we push forward our 4i Chirstmas outing?
P.S. This tagboard doesn't refresh itself. If you wanna check that you posted, hit F5 after you have tagged then check your tag.

While randomly coming across files on my com, I saw the ppt from commencement day, which says on photo bucket there are some graduation photos. Which of course I can't remember what they are (and I doubt you can too). So I went to take a look and I figured, why not post them here and updated this rather neglected blog at the same time. So...enjoy!
Half the class sleeping...Not right arh
I've always asked what happened to these 2 rats. Not right arh class comm, spend the class fund then never account. I demand for transparency!
Our first, and presumably last 3i/4i meal in Malaysia. AND I STILL REMEMBER! There are 2 people here who came here just to take photo AND THEN LEFT TO EAT WITH OTHERS.
Who's he tenderly lovingly caringly thinking about?
Well, 4i surely won't miss a moment of these kind of things
I know from personal experience because I was unwillingly involved in those moments
One missing to form the Hi 5 group
We might still find this if we scrape off enough paint
But with so many artists declaring their love for 3i/4i, there's no need to
Probably the only few years that we can paint our own classrooms.
It's a bird, no it's a plane, no it's super duster!
The epicness of Wei Liang and Dora
You'll never know mere palms alone can provide so much shade until you try
I still remember this photo and the 3 siao zha bors cute chio bu-s (cannot put the bu and the s together or it will become bus)
Thank you for the 2 wonderful years.

SURPRISE! It's not CS blogging for once. : D I haven't visited this blog in ages and when I just did, I saw that CS wrote in last mth's post something like "unfortunately the group photo is with Yun Jing...." HAHAHA what is so unfortunate about that?! So here I am with the group photo from our most recent steamboat dinner:

Dwindling number indeed...

Happy Gel with her apple strudel ;D
