Have you ever wondered why we have certain pests such as flies, mosquitos, nats, ants, mice, snakes? I do. They are just obnoxious, disgusting, anoying pests.
We have spent the last couple of weeks battling some of these creatures. Memorial Day weekend we came home to a house that smelled "not so fresh" I thought it was the recycable containers so I put them in the garage. The next day, I could still smell something in the pantry so I started to look around. There was a dead mouse on a glue trap. Problem solved. I removed the trap and put a clean one in it's place. You are probably thinking gross. I think it is gross. I HATE mice and I do not tolerate mice. Especially in my home. That is just GROSS.
A week later a friend is over and see's a mouse run in the corner as she is talking to me. Talk about EMBARRASING and GROSS to say the least. A couple day's later the girls and I are in the living room and I see a mouse run by. So I go and get some traps and put them out, next morning a mouse is in the trap. Good. Hopefully we are done. I guess that was just wishful thinking.
The next day, I go into the pantry and these critters have got into 3 bags of almonds. So I clean up the mess. I've had it by this point. For the next 3 and half hours I moved every piece of furniture I could possibly move on my own and cleaned everyroom in the house. Never found a mouse. We leave the house for a few hours and come home to a car with a couple tresspassers in our backyard, scoping out our utility trailer and who know's what else, and a bag of cheerios nibbled on by some more mice. The next day the pest control company comes out and lines our garage, and every room of our house with traps. I know, I know, GROSS. Tell me about it. I can't stand it. But these creatures must DIE.
Two days go by and we didn't catch a thing. I am thinking this is a good sign. The poison must be working they are gone. I go out to the garage to change the laundry and I notice a trap has been moved, and another trap is gone. I start looking around for the missing trap and what do I discover? A snake. Yes a snake stuck to the glue trap trying to slither it's way through the garage stuck under the refrigerator. I call John and tell him what's on the trap. John HATES snakes like I hate mice. He say's "if it's in the house I am not coming home." Thankfully it wasn't in the house.
Saturday night, John tells me when I am half asleep that a trap just went off in the pantry. I know YUCK again. Another mouse has been caught. Tuesday the girls are at home with a babysitter and Ashlee calls me on the phone. She say's "Mom there is a snake on the glue trap in my room." I say: "in your room Ashlee?" "Yes mom in my room." Great (not really). Luckily John works close by, but he was in the middle of something and could not get home for a couple hours to remove the creature. In the meantime the girls are scared, the babysitter called her mom (her mom is probably wondering what's up with these people are they slobs or what?) Needless to say, another phone call was made to the pest control company. They were good and came right out, set more traps, but come on, please tell me why do we have these creatures? Why are they in my home? Aren't snakes suppose to eat mice? So why do I have both? I seriously think we must have a CREATURE MUSUEM living under our house. Problem is NO ONE is brave enough to go under the house and see what's under there. NO ONE. I sure hope this problem is resolved soon. I don't handle CREATURES well. ESPECIALLY IN MY HOME!
UPDATE: The zoo at the Anderson Home seems to never stop growing. Last night we came home to a ferret above Ashlee's window. Where in the world did a ferrett come from? I think someone is letting their pets loose at our house!
