Field Trip
Today Ashlee's class had their fourth field trip of the year. They went to the Mc Henry Mansion and Funworks. I wasn't able to go to the mansion with them. But I got off work early enough to meet them at Funworks. They could ride go-carts, play miniture golf, do water gun bumper boats, and play arcade games. Needless to say the weather didn't cooperate. It was cold and towards the end of the day it started to rain. Ashlee didn't get to do the water gun bumper boats. But she did get to ride the go-carts 5 times and play miniture golf.

Life
Haven't posted much lately so here is a bit of a summary of what has been going on with us. Mikayla is doing much better, after battling pnuemonia the last week and a half. She is still on breathing treatments and has been able to gradually start doing some activities again. Ashlee is starting to become quite the swimmer. She is enjoying it and getting better each day. Saturday she got to participate in a trial swim meet (see post below this). Once she gets her breathing down she should do pretty good. She wears herself out trying to breath properly. Thursday night the school had Open House, it was nice to see all the things the girls have done all year. Both girls are doing well in school and are counting the days till summer vacation. It's hard to believe the school year is almost over. Both of them will be participating in Spring Concerts in the coming weeks at school.
I have been pretty involved with running kids around, volunteering at the school, working and YW. Our stake has been working on a Dance Festival the last few months and the performance was this weekend. It turned out really well. This week I was nominated as Vice President of the Parent Booster Club at the kids school. I am hoping things go well. I have lots of work ahead of me. Soon we will be planning events for the upcoming school year. I tried to tell them that I work two jobs part of the year and that an obligation such as this may be difficult for me, but they seemed to think I could do it. We will see how it goes....
John has started raising rabbits with one of his co-workers/friends. It's almost like having another full time job. So far things are going well for them. Demand is higher than supply, so they are trying to build their numbers as quickly as their budgets will allow. They already have a few clients and have sold some product so hopefully things will work out for the best.
Life has been hectic, crazy, and non-stop around here. In the last week we have gotten to bed late everynight except one night. Needless to say, we are all feeling tired and sluggish today. If it wasn't daylight outside, we probably would've all been in bed at 5:00pm!

Swim Trials
Today Ashlee got to participate in a time trials event for swimming. Their swim team the Ceres Dolphins held an event that was very similar to a swim meet. They wanted first year swimmers and their parents to see what a swim meet will be like. They also wanted to time each kid in the events, so they can place them properly in the first swim meet they go to. Ashlee really surprised us. She participated in 3 events- 100 yard freestyle, 50 yard freestyle and back stroke. She was suppose to participate in another event but we had to leave to go to a church event so she didn't get to participate. Mikayla wasn't able to participate because she hasn't been able to get in the pool since she got pnuemonia. Hopefully this week Mikayla will be able to get back in the pool. Mikayla loved swimming in the beginning, but now she is having second thoughts and is thinking about quitting, so we will have to see how things go with her.

Mikayla's First Grade Field Trip/Pnuemonia
Last Wednesday (4/29/10) Mikayla spiked a 104 fever and was complaining of her eyes and head hurting. The next day I took her to the doctor. The doctor said she had strep throat, (she said it looked like she had golf balls in her throat) a sinus infection, and infected ear lobes from her earings being too tight. Saturday morning Mikayla still wasn't feeling well. I took her back to the doctor. He listened to her lungs and sent us to the ER for a chest x-ray. The chest x-ray revealed that Mikayla had a pretty good area of her lungs infected with pnuemonia. They gave her some injections, prescribed some more meds, and sent us home with injections to be given at home on Sunday. Needless to say, it's been quite the week the last 10 days. Mikayla has had to go to the doctor every other day. Each time she has gotten more medications because the condition wasn't improving, the fever was still present and more symptoms would develop. She has been on 4 different antibiotics, 2 inhalers, breathing treatments every four hours, prednisone, and has gone through 3 bottles of Motrin. And finally, yesterday (5/7/10) the doctor feels as though she is finally overcoming the pnuemonia. She has to continue treatment for the next month, but she is finally starting to eat and regain her energy. This morning when she woke up, she asked me if I liked sleeping through the night for the first time in 10 days, because she liked not having to be woken up.
Thursday Mikayla's class got to go on their first field trip for the year. They went to the Stockton Children's Musuem and Mickies Grove Park. She was so excited to be well enough to attend the field trip.

Mikayla had a fun time. By the end of the day she was exhausted. But she was thankful that she was well enough to attend the trip.
