Playing at the Park

It's such a beautiful day outside today that we decided we should get out and enjoy it. So we loaded Mason up and took him to the park. The place was crawling with kids, but Mason didn't seem to mind and was content just wandering around watching everyone or playing in the dirt. He loved the swing, but wasn't a fan of the slides. Steven took him down a couple and every time he looked like he was scared to death, although he never cried. It was so fun to just get out of the house & spend some time together outside! After all the rain we've had I was beginning to wonder if the sun was ever going to come back.
When we got home Mason crashed and slept for 2 hours, I guess we wore him out a little.
He LOVES the swings! Peeking at mommy on his way up to the big slides! Just chillin on the bench with daddy! I think he loved playing in the mulch the most! He liked to move the mulch from the pit onto the sidewalk and then brush it off.

Outside

He loves being outside and this last week has started going to the front door & patting it trying to get us to go out there! We are hoping for a nice summer with lots of time outside & hopefully we'll be able to take him swimming some time soon! I'm so curious to see if he'll like it, I'm pretty sure he will, but we'll have to wait and see.
This was probably only the 2nd time he has tolerated being/walking on the grass, normally he hates it & prefers to stay on the concrete.

Easter

Our Easter didn't quite go as planned today since we had a friend staying with us, & both Steven & I had to work tonight, but Mason still got to enjoy his 1st Easter basket. We've been to busy lately and didn't get a chance to color eggs or do an Easter egg hunt like I'd wanted to, so I guess we'll have to make up for it next year. Anyhow, we put Mason's Easter basket together last night & waited till this afternoon to give it to him. At first he wasn't quite sure what to do with it & was more interested in taking off with the basket then playing with anything it had inside. However, once I showed him that there were treats inside the eggs he was all about it!

Taking off with his Easter basket...
Enjoying some of his yogurt melts.
Our little Easter bunny boy!
This sucker thing made a gross, slobbery, sticky mess, but he sure loved it!
Mason with our friend Mary Black who stayed with us last night & headed back to Illinois today.
We were unable to make it to church today, which I hated seeing's how if we didn't have a Savior who loved us enough to die for us we wouldn't have anything to celebrate today. I'm so grateful for our Savior, for the Atonement, and for the Resurrection in which allows us to repent of our sins and be able to return to our Heavenly Father someday!
Happy Easter Everyone!

Sweet Tooth

Last night Steven and I had a craving for shakes, so Steven ran to Jiffy Treat and picked us up some. Of course Mason always wants to have what we are having so we let him try some and it was all downhill from there! It was apparent that he totally has a sweet tooth like his parents and he couldn't get enough of our ice cream! He'd get a bite, toddle away squealing & then come back for more! It was pretty funny!

Mason the Tease

Mason is becoming quite the little tease lately and LOVES to take our stuff and run off with it. He thinks it's hilarious, and as much as I want to get after him, I can't help but laugh at it. Anyhow these videos were actually taken before we went to the doctor for Mason's 12 month check up. He took off with Steven's phone & it was pretty funny! The second video is my favorite!
Now tell me that didn't make you laugh!?

12 Month Check-up

Mason had his 12 month check-up today with Dr. Franklin.
This was him before we left, he couldn't decide if he was going to be sad or happy about our outing. His stats for today are Weight: 22 lbs (25-50%) Height: 28 1/2 inches (10-25%) Head Circumference: 46 cms (25-50%) Rating at a 16 month old level Mason wondered around the room while we waited for them to come give him his shots before we could go home. He did great with his shots and didn't even react to the first one, but then he started to cry just a little after the 2nd one & while she was doing the 3rd one. Once I was able to pick him up he stopped crying though and just wanted to eat more snacks. He fell asleep pretty fast once we were in the car and barely woke up when we got home and I moved him from his car seat to his crib.

Sleepy Dad & Books

Steven was so exhausted after a very long, busy week that this morning he only made it from the bed to the couch before he crashed again! It's already been a grueling month for him & it doesn't look like it's going to slow down any time soon.
We were ready for church early today so we had a little story time with Dr. Seuss while we waited to leave. Mason likes to look at the pages, but generally will not sit still long enough to make it through more than 2 pages. He's such a busy body!

Cake Smash #2

Today Mason had cake smash #2 with our photographer, he also had a few more 1 year old portraits taken as well. So our morning started out with me decorating his cake & getting everything ready for his pictures. Then while I took Mason to go get his pictures taken Steven stayed home and worked on his thesis. Monkey cake for cake smash #2 The photo shoot went well and I'm hoping they got lots of good pictures. Mason was really shy & unsure about the whole process when we first got there, but he eventually opened up & started to have a good time. We did the cake smash at the end and stripped him down to just his diaper. I totally expected him to go right for the cake like he did last week at his birthday party, but he was much more reserved. He looked so confused when I first sat him down in front of it and immediately started to crawl away putting his knee right into the cake. After sitting him back down in front of the cake he just kept poking it with his finger, getting a little icing, licking it off & just kept repeating this. I finally had to go push his hands into the cake in order for him to get into it. After that he still was mostly only eating the icing off the top, until the very end he finally started to pick a few pieces of cake off. At the end he was covered in icing and he had to have a quick bath in her kitchen sink to wash it all off before I could get him dressed. In total we were there for an 1.5 hours and he was exhausted by the end, despite having had a ton of sugar. He was asleep in the car before their house was even out of sight.

More Birthday Presents

Mason has continued to be spoiled by family as 3 more gifts have come for him in the mail this week. This one pictured is from Steven's uncle Dan & aunt Deb's family in South Dakota.
There is a funny story about this monkey that Mason is holding & the two others on the floor. They are screaming, sling-shot monkeys and Steven got them for their 3 boys a long time ago. We laughed about it then because they are loud & abnoxious! Now they have sent them back to us for Mason, so I guess it's payback time. However, so far Mason is scared of them & runs away everytime we shoot one acroos the room. Rosco also hates them and goes a little crazy.
They also sent him this cute little drum with lots of NOISY instruments inside!
Thanks Dan & Deb for the noise makers!
Also, thank you to the rest of our family for sending him cards & gifts for his birthday, we appreciate you thinking of him!

When we got home from church today I had to take a few pictures of Mason in this outfit with his cute matching shirt & shoes. They were given to him by his Aunt Tracy before he was born & I was there when she picked them out & now he's finally able to wear them!
