My Mama

Just wanna blog something short about my mama..

She is one person that influenced my life a lot.. esp in the area of being independent. I don't mean being a solo gungho woman.. but she really can stand alone if she needs too. After hearing stories of how she supported the family in times of crisis, i'm like "whoa" she's the woman!! Then again, i'm like thinking, "_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ?"

She always tells me not to blame others for the outcome of the situation if i can actually do someting to do change it. So in another words, blame me. Fine -_-" But then again, i find this very helpful, because if i were to blame every other person for my circumstances then i would be a very bitter couch potato - just sit around and get bitter and hope that the person who landed me in this situation would just get a life. Anyway, being bitter is like taking poision and hoping the other person would die. So it's kinda stupid being bitter.

On the other hand, this makes me feel sad for those people who just dun wan to take responsibility for their own lives, and put the blame on the rest of the world except themselves. I dun mean that we blame ourselves for everything that has happened, because sometimes, it really isn't our fault e.g. a flower pot falling from the 12th storey because some inconsiderate people want to sun their flowers at the corridor wall.. (ok, but that's another story all together). Yeah.. coming back again.. I feel really sad for these people.. because their lives are dependent on the what other people say and do... "hello, you have the power to make decisions yourself k -_-"? Get it?"

Actually to speak (type) the truth.. you can blame everyone around you, but they are still going to move on without you.. So what i'm trying to say, in short, you can choose to make things better.

Well.. this is another thing which i learnt from my mama.. which is make do with whatever you have (even though she always complain to me about having not enough dough).. it's true. "Why always wait till you have one hundred dollars?" Be satisfied with what you have and make do with it until something better comes along. Getting bitter about what you don't have doesn't necessary solve the problem. If you don't understand what it means to make every situation an opportunity for yourselves, you will be the only one losing out. I hate it when people say "Aiya, if i had... blah blah.." ya ya.. if you have.. you have a bunch of excuses.. what is done, is done, cannot be undone, so stop "aiya, if i had, if i knew.."

Haiz.. but my mama is not a believer yet.. soon soon..

Jesus prayed for His disciples

[John 17:6-18]

6"I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.

9I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.

11I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one. 12While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

13"I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

Hong Kong richest lady "Little Sweetie" died.

She fought a 8 years law suit and won against her father-in-law for her 'missing-in-action' husband's fortune and then to only die 2 years later... Meaningless!!

If she were to know beforehand (maybe 10 years ago) that she will die soon after winning the court case (which increased her fortune by $4++ billion) - will she still go for it? or perhaps spend the past 10 years more meaningfully? or spend the $4++ billion within the 2 years and save at least $10 million for her funeral?

If i were her, I will die a regretful death... "Haven spend my money!!!"
If having $4++ billion didn't save her from death... hmm...
But when $10 is in the hands of God, it can accomplish much more than what $4++ billion can.. Remember your Breakthrough Pledge?!

You can read about her and her funeral at the BBC website.

Let the Word of God spread

A tiny hole is enough

I'm very grateful that God squeezed His Word through the tiny hole in my heart.. oh so long ago.. that I was able to understand His Love..

As long as there is a small hole where the Word of God can be planted, the seed can grow.

1 Cor 3:6 - I (Paul) planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.

Mark 4:27-29 27 - Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. 28All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come."

We need the courage to make a difference in every generation...

God's Presence

During one of the prayer meetings a few weeks ago, Mike was using the passage below as a platform. I was really inspired by it. How ironic it would indeed be for the house of bread to have no bread. Similarly, how ironic it would indeed be for the house of God to have no God. We really need His Presence big time! Let's all yearn for more of His Presence in our lives!

"The bread of [Thy] presence."

Numbers 4:7 NRSV

Bread in The Old Testament symbolised God's presence. That's why Numbers 4:7 refers to "the bread of [Thy] Presence." When famine drove Naomi and her family out of Bethlehem (House of Bread), they left for the same reason people leave churches today - no bread!

Tommy Tenney writes: "Why do so many people flock to clubs and bars looking for crumbs? Because they tried the church and found only old recipes and cold ovens; there was no presence of God in the pantry."

"For some churches it's a pride thing; through tradition, they try to preserve the image of where God's been, at the expense of where He is now! They talk about what He used to do - but what about now? It's time we set aside our personal agendas and man-made games; it's time to say, 'He must increase, but I must decrease' (John 3:30).

Our generation and the later generations to come are going to be very different and we cannot always do ministry the same way. What works for today's youth, may no longer work for the next few generations... God will rise up courageous people who would seek first His Kingdom & they will be the blessed bunch - cause all the good things will be given to them :)

"When people experience the presence of God it overrides human theologies and changes hearts. Why? Because someone with an experience is never at the mercy of someone with an argument. On the other hand, when people experience only a hint of God mixed with other things, it immunises them to the real thing.

"The problem isn't that God's not in the church, it's that sometimes there's not enough of Him to make the needed difference! Ezekiel said, 'I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple' (Ezekiel 47:1 NIV). If living water is to reach this generation, it must first flow down through the church aisles and out through us!"
