Proverbs 13:22

[NIV} A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.

[MSG] A good life gets passed on to the grandchildren; ill-gotten wealth ends up with good people.

Ecclesiastes 2:26

[NIV] To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

[MSG] God may give wisdom and knowledge and joy to his favorites, but sinners are assigned a life of hard labor, and end up turning their wages over to God's favorites. Nothing but smoke—and spitting into the wind.

Hit on the spot

Jeremiah 17:7-8

7 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,whose confidence is in him.
8 He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

Those who trust in the Lord will be blessed, do not fear, have no worries and will be fruitful.

Whatever I need to hear, God spoke. Through His Word, through His people.

I was talking to Zixin on the phone for about 2 hours.. ok, to be exact 1hr 48mins ++.. haha.. then I remembered something that God told me before..

I used to think that all desires, visions, convictions, strategies, plans, ideas, dreams, passion, compassion that I have for God's ministry was self-inspired and then i thought "whoa.. not bad ah, I'm quite spiritual.. am interested to do spiritual work".

However, to think of it again, if God didn't open up my spiritual senses to understand His ways, would I be such a sincere person that will think that giving my all to Jesus was a good idea and do so? Give up things in my life to serve people? Choose to do things that I naturally struggle to or choose not to do the things that I would prefer? I don't think I'm that self-less (but i think comparing to the general public, I'm above average.. wahaha..)

So I was humbled that day when i realised that it was God all along who gave me the convictions, the ideas and strategies, the passion and compassion... not because I was a naturally good-natured person who decided myself that serving God is the best thing to do. Anyway if God didn't reach out to me in the first place, I wouldn't even experience life in God..

I don't know if you understand what I'm talking about here.. anyway, it's 4am and I'm a bit lazy to phrase it in the Queen's English version..

Anyways, I know that I am doing what I am doing now is because of a passion inspired by Him (and it's a growing conviction too), if not, how can I last 10 years? But for the next 50 years of my life (if I'm gonna live that long), I pray that God continually bring convictions into my heart, compassion for people who haven have a relationship with Him or live as though they don't, passion for His will to be done...so that I can continually live a life that is pleasing to Him and fruitful and purposeful

D.E.S.S.E.R.T.S

The throbbing headache from one year ago is back... Always have this when the annual event is near... Thank God this is my last year entering into such event.. The throbbing headache will never go away until everything is over.. and then what are some other symptoms?

Doing other nitty griity things instead of preparing for the event.. things i usually don't do.. whenever i planned to prepare for the event, i'll suddenly feel like cleaning up my room, sweeping and mopping the floor, go market and buy vegetables.. also i'll feel tired all the time and then try to delay the starting time.. aiya, in one word.. "Siam4".. not the country la.. I'll feel like avoiding but then i know i cannot then i'll try to push myself to do it - you see now how the headache develop right..

DISCIPLINE.. you'll need this when you don't have anyone breathing down your neck.. but compared to nagging, i rather be disciplined.. so if you don't want people to keep nagging then do your part by being discipline la..

God, help me to study what will come out for my exam. Help me to study exactly what is needed. God lead me to study. God help me to love studying all the things that i don't like but you know that is necessary for my exams. Help me to be intelligent and quick to understand what i'm studying. Help me to study in a way for application in my exam. Help me to spend all the remaining time fruitfully. Amen.

(Same prayer every year for the past 7 years.. and God never fails..)

Can i add one more line this year.. God, help me to do really well in my exams.. God i know you can do it.. but i know you need my cooporation too.. ok.. goodbye everyone.. gonna hit the books now..

Singapore is leaking talent: SM Goh

TEHRAN: As he sat speaking to reporters about his meetings with Iranian leaders, Singapore Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong's thoughts were still focused on home.

Singapore, he said, is leaking talent. Not just ordinary talent, but its best and finest.

...

"The issue which we are most concerned with is the loss of our own people at the very top," said Mr Goh. "These are bright young people, children of very well educated Singaporeans."

Some may study overseas, and the best ones were harvested straight away by companies there. And this often starts a spiral that ends up with Singapore losing these talents.

"They do not want to come back to Singapore. They want the experience of working in foreign universities, banks and companies," said the Senior Minister.

And often, two or three years down the road, these talented Singaporeans marry overseas and settle down there.

Even if they were to think of moving back to Singapore later, some find houses here too expensive. Others are put off by Singapore's shortage of space. Still others prefer the lifestyle in America, Europe or Australia.

"They don't come back; we lose them," he said. "This is a very big problem for us because if we lose the top 0.5 per cent from the next generation, Singapore will have a much lower 'peak'. The world is now competing on human resources and talent."

... adapted from Today online

God can use anyone who is willing and obedient. God is able to rise up leaders of the finest quality for His Kingdom from among the common. He need not worry about lacking of excellent leaders to lead His Kingdom from Glory to Glory. God will rise up leaders for Himself. He have no lack. There is no doubt about the Kingdom of God being an Eternal Kingdom and everything that is invested in the Kingdom will last forever. We need God, not the other way round :)

I always believe in my heart, that at the right time, God will rise up His people to set the standard for this world; in all arenas. For now, all over the world, Children of God are "under-construction" - in character, obedience, faith, truth, spirit..

Haggai 2:9
'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty."

CG Madness (March '07)

This was the photo submitted for the CG Madeness.
This CG was the winner of the last CG Madness.
Joyce thought of this idea. She is really creative but she doesn't think so, perhaps not in the area of craft but she sure is good with ideas and ways to 'sabo' people lo.. but "We still love you, Joyce.. and your hair very nice :)"

And the consolation winner of the CG Madness *drum roll*

FNWA1!!

Yea! So creative right. Ting ting thought of this idea. Hmm.. i think she did a great job by 'washing their feet' that now they are able to 'wash the feet of others' :)
