Have you ever feel uncomfortable, weird, scared, confused or guilty about the content you see online?
Here’s a teacher's story…
Many years ago, when I was surfing the Internet for information on my project, I chanced upon a website with the following caption. - “LOSE WEIGHT FAST- 10 KILOGRAMS in 3 DAYS.” The website provided 10 easy steps for ladies like me to lose weight. Though I found it a little unbelievable, I was tempted to give it a try. Just when I was engrossed in reading and understanding how to go around losing weight in the fastest way, my mother came into my room. She saw the content on the website and asked, “You are not going to follow the steps, aren’t you? How can you go without food for so many days? Is that the right way to lose weight?” I came to realize that I might even cause harm to myself. I have learnt that in order to lose weight, it is important to have a balanced diet and exercise regularly.
What about you? - Have you ever seen anything online that made you afraid, uncomfortable or feel excited and yet guilty because you sensed that it was wrong? What should you do when the content on the Internet is inappropriate? Tellme about it.
I hope to read your responses soon.

Term 3/Week 3 :H1N1 Measures
Hi Everyone,
Since the start of Term 3, we have been taking our temperature twice a day. Many activities had to be cancelled or postponed. In this week's reflection, I would like you to discuss how all these have affected you. I have listed some questions below to help you with your reflection:
1. What do you think of the school's preventive measures for H1N1 such as temperature-taking, no assembly in the hall, cancellation of remedial lessons, CCA and other activities?
2. How has the cancellation of these activities affect you in your learning?
3. What do you do with the extra time you have now?
Hope to read your reflection. Let's start writing now.

Term 3/Week 2 : Cyberwellness Reflection
Hi, read the following story...
For the past few weeks, I've been playing a game called “Waka-Waka”on the facebook, an improvised version of Pac-man. I've always enjoyed playing Pac-man since I was young. Soon, I was addicted to the game unknowingly.Negative behaviours such as spending too much time on the game and possessing the urge to play the game soon surfaced. My ultimate goal is to be the first on the score board.
However after about a week, I realised that something was amiss. I wasn’t spending enough time with my family members. I began to reflect on the purpose of playing the game and how it has affected my daily routine. I came to understand the importance of having a balanced lifestyle and spending time with my family members. Now, I'll only play the game if I've completed my work and limit myself to at most 30 minutes of gaming every day.
Well, that's definitely a story which most of you find familiar, don't you agree? Let's do some reflection of your gaming habits. To help you write your reflection, I have listed some questions below:
1. How many hours a day do you spend on the computer?
2. Are you addicted to the computer? If 'yes', how do you become addicted to it? If 'no', how have you managed to remain unaddicted?
3. Is your school work affected by the time you spend on the computer? Tell us more.
4. What advice would you give to your friend who is addicted to computer games?
I hope to read your reflection soon. Start writing immediately.

Term 2 /Week 5 : Learning Standard English

Hi, here's a picture which was taken by a Stomper. He had a question which he's hoping that someone would help to answer. Read what the Stomper had asked below:
"This picture of a public notice was taken inside a boat at Marina South Pier. I was travelling from the pier to Kusu Island when I spotted this notice on a door. The boat is owned by Singapore Island Cruise. Is there something wrong with this notice?"
Now, I want you to try answering the question above. Share an instance where you had also seen English being used inappropriately on public notice or sign.
Regards
Mrs NAM
Term 2 / Week 4 : Amazing Trail for Dictation
Hi, it was great fun conducting the Amazing Race for Dictation for all of you on last Thursday. I was heartened to see all of you actively participating in the trail. I would like to hear from all of you how else we can make the learning of English interesting. More importantly, I would like to hear how you think English lessons can be conducted to ensure that pupils (including yourself) learn English well.
regards,
Mrs Nam

Term 2 / Week 3 :
Hi Everyone, I spoke to the school about the need for everyone in the school to take care of their own belongings. It takes everyone to make the school safe for all.
For this week, I would like everyone to think of ways we can all play a part to make sure that no pupil has the chance to be up to his or her mischief.
To help you, I have listed some questions below:
1. Which part(s) of the school do you think is not very safe? Why?
2. What do you think can be done to improve it/them?
3. How can all pupils help to make the school a safer place for all?
These questions are just a guide to help you start writing. You are free to to include other points or ideas. I hope to read your suggestions soon.

Term 2 / Week 2 :

Hi, I think some of you would have seen or would have drunk this new drink before. A reader sent this picture to STOMP. Read what the reader said - "I spotted this at a Jalan Kayu prata house…. It had me laughing for ages."
What has made the reader laugh for ages? Why do you think it is important to speak or write standard English?
