These are a few of Liam's Favorite Things

December is our busiest month by far. We celebrate our wedding anniversary on the 4th (yeah for 4 years!!), Michael's birthday on the 20th (yeah for 27 years!!), and we have all the other holiday festivities and Christmas gatherings (not to mention all the other work of decorating, shopping, wrapping, and cleaning up after the little tornado!). It is fun, and makes the last weeks of the year just fly. Here is a little glimpse of some things Liam has been up:

His favorite thing about the new car seat so far...

His favorite place to be currently (any chair will do, the computer is just an extra bonus because Mommy won't usually let him get this close. He
loves looking out the windows.)
His favorite Christmas card...

He also got a hair cut recently. Is this look a preview of teen attitude, or a sign of displeasure!? (Note, it normally doesn't look this crooked, but that morning he woke up it did...hehe). It was also right before tooth number 7 broke through, so that could be the other reason!! We expect tooth number 8 to be close behind.

Thankfulness

We all had a great Thanksgiving. Liam was a delight and he really didn't sleep too bad away from home this time. I really didn't take too many pictures, mostly just relaxed!

One of my favorite moments. Uncle Carl is 90, and Liam seemed to think having a cane was a really good idea!
Everyone sitting around, full (or bored if you are a kid), at the end of the day
What Michael and his Dad looked at while the women went black Friday shopping. Meanwhile, Liam had a blast at Aunt Marsha's house (and a lot of the family was there to play with him too, including his cousins)! He ate a lot for them, everyone had a great time!

Our Christmas tree, 2009.
Our Chinese friend Xianlu joined us
Michael cutting the tree
Liam watching with Grandma
Pinecone (surprisingly, he didn't really try to eat it... I think it was because he was so bundled up he could hardly move!)
The most photographed donkey in the area
Loving his eyes here, the coat and the bright blue sky were wonderful accents!

On the topic of thanksgiving and thankfulness, I found myself very thankful yesterday. It was very chilly morning, but beautiful, so I still met up with my running buddy. We did a slow 5 miles (the most I have done since pre-Liam...yay!). Afterward, I ran some errands and did a grocery store run. I had to make one last stop at Home Depot, to get a door sweep for our back door to try to block out a draft coming in. I got off the interstate, and was the first car waiting at the traffic light to go straight into the parking lot. I paused like I normally do before proceeding when the light turned green, but after pulling out noticed something large barreling toward me on the drivers side out of the corner of my eye. Someone in a big dark truck was speeding and running that light redder than red. I had the experience where everything was almost in slow motion. No time to honk or think, I hit the gas and heard their tires screech. Praise God there was no collision! I saw the truck just frozen there blocking the intersection for a moment even after I had crossed, and my heart was pounding. I was shaky when called Michael after I was parked in the parking lot. After thinking briefly about all that could have happened, I was just so thankful when I got home.

* * * * *

Brave Mama recently gave Liam the camera for a little while to let him make his first home movie. This is a little glimpse of what his world is like (haha, I also feel like such a giant now!) ;-)

Tonight was also pretty exciting and busy as we finally put up our Christmas tree! Mama was busy and didn't get Liam's dinner fast enough, so he took matters into his own hands. I freaked out he got all the way on the table, but had to laugh (and get a new bag for the Cheerios). I also noticed he bit into the peel of two bananas as well. Poor little Muncher!

His new convertible car seat also arrived! Thanks to a friend, I took advantage of an amazing closeout sale and saved probably $100! I ordered it Sunday, and it came super fast. Thanks to everyone who gave Liam birthday gift money too! He seems super cozy in it. This one is particularly high rated for side collisions, and after that close call yesterday it made me feel even better I went with this one (Britax Boulevard).
We also finally put up the tree! Coming soon will be plastic bulbs and ornaments just to be on the safe side this year ;-)

Quick! Take a Picture and Grab Him Before He Falls: Part II

I usually have to unload the dishwasher while he's asleep, or this happens...
Oh no! Someone figured out how to climb chairs around our tables. On the bright side, it is a new incentive for everyone to fight the clutter!
He was jabbering like crazy standing on his "soapbox"
Bad place to stack the ads and magazines, but good place for Liam to look out the window and check out Daddy's trains! The cats aren't the only ones climbing their furniture now.
In action....

Someone recently figured out how to climb on the couch, and enjoys lounging around up there!

12 Month Stats!

Currently Liam is still going to two doctor's offices until we get more permanent insurance (hopefully this will be soon!). His first appointment with his primary pediatrician was back on November 4. Then he was 22 pounds 4 ounces, 29.5 inches long, and the nurse thought he had a 17.25 head circumference... which was odd because it was smaller than previously measured! I figured there was just an error somewhere down the line. Sure enough, today's appointment confirmed that. He was 22 pounds even (the 4 ounce difference could even be from different scales!), 30.25 inches (even with margin of error, I think someone had a growth spurt!), and had a 18.25 head circumference. This head measurement was more like it, and right on the expected curve. I have no idea how there could be that big of a difference, other than perhaps his head shape (that looks completely normal) was throwing them off somehow? Overall, Liam looks great and is right on target for everything. Today he got the Varicella (Chicken Pox), Prevnar (covers pneumococcal, which is a bacterial infection that can cause meningitis), and Hepatitis A shots. So far he has seemed like his normal self, which is always a relief.

Catch Me if You Can!

It is hard to keep up with our blog and other things with a very active, very curious, and very mischievous little boy now toddling constantly and climbing everything he can! Here are the most recent photos and a video of our little one-year-old in action!

He loves climbing up and looking out the window
The climbing process...
He's able to get back down too!

The "quick get a picture and grab him!" series

He has also figured out how to climb up on our couch, by first climbing up on the magazine rack that is between the wall and the couch, but I have yet to capture that! It's always something. I keep the camera nearby at all times.

Grab your popcorn, this is our longest video yet! There is a lot of action to capture now!

Finally, a couple random ones of him enjoying cauliflower. He currently can eat a wide-range of foods now. Tonight he even had some of the chicken out of our coconut chicken curry dinner!
