First Day of Kindergarten

Tristan started school at the end of August and boy was he excited about it. I can't believe my lil guy is already in school he is growing up so fast!! I picked him up on the first day and asked him how his first day was and he said he didn't want to talk about it. I found it odd so I asked why and he wouldn't tell me so I finally got it out of him later in the day and come to find out he got in trouble and had to do a time out. He couldn't explain to me what happened so I talked to his teacher the next day and she told me he didn't get in serious trouble she is just a stickler during story time and Tristan is a great bubbly kid but he just likes to talk! Go figure a Mayes that LOVES to talk! lol She said he wouldn't be quiet during story time so he had to put his head down on the table for 1 minute. I told Matthew about this because he was in ND at the time and he just laughed and said "Oh the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" and of course those of you who know my husband know that he got in trouble quite a bit in school. I guess I will be looking forward to a lot of principal calls in my future because Tristan is a mini Matthew! Below I have posted pics on his first day. I hope you enjoy!

Please Welcome Hadley Louise Mayes

Our little baby girl has arrived! We are so excited to finally have a lil girl join out family. After weeks of hoping that my braxton hicks contractions would progress to the real thing we ended up having a scheduled induction on May 13th. I was so full of anxiety the night before and wasn't sure if I would be able to get any sleep but believe it or not I actually did get some sleep. I woke up at 6AM to call the Birth Center to see if they had beds available and they did so we then made our journey to the hospital around 7:15 to be there by 7:30. After getting all the paperwork filled out and getting checked in they assigned us our room and we were in the same suite I had been in with the boys. It just must be "our" room for having our children! Once they got me all all hooked up to everything they started my pitocin around 8:30AM and my contractions started kicking in right away so they didn't have to up my dosage for almost 2 hours which was so nice. At around 11:00 or so my doctor came in and broke my water and boy oh boy did my contractions get more intense after that! About an hour later I asked for the epidural and this go around was a lot more painful than it was with my boys and it was probably because of the way I was sitting in the bed and my back wasn't totally straight. The anesthesiologist (sp) had to try quite a few times to get it right and Matthew got really queasy and had to sit down. He never had to before but I think he was starting to worry about me with how many times it was taking the doctor to get everything right. So after everything was right I was able to sleep from about 12:30PM until 2:15 or so and my mom thought it was so funny I was sleeping through my contractions! My doc came in around 2:15 and checked me and I was ready to start pushing. She had me give me 1 push and then mad eme stop til the nurses had everything else ready because with the 1 push the baby was already crowned pretty good. A couple pushes later we welcomes miss Hadley into the world at 2:31PM on May 13th. What a great Mother's Day gift she was and it was all I could ask for, I didn't need anything else. My recovery this time around has been so quick. Matthew was supposed to leave on the 15th to go back to work but his boss let him stay until the 18th. Hadley has been such a great baby and her brothers absolutely adore her! It's so fun to playing with pink and pastels and dresses and bows. She is already a daddy's girl and has her daddy wrapped around her little finger. She is such a princess. Welcome to the family Hadley we are so happy you are finally here!

Tristan's 5th Birthday

We celebrated Tristan's birthday a couple weeks late because Matthew was working in ND and we were getting close to expecting the arrival of our lil girl. Grandma Mayes thru this little party together in a matter of a couple hours and I couldn't have been happier for her help because of how miserable I had been feeling. We gathered up family and got together for cake and ice cream and presents at Hawthorne Park. Even tho it was the spur of the moment and not many could make it Tristan really enjoyed his time at the park and opening presents! Thanks to all who could come please enjoy the pics.

Update on baby

So I had a doctor appointment on Monday and they started checking my cervix and even though I have been having a lot of contractions and pains I had only diated 1cm. Things are going well though at the end of this pregnancy. I am gearing up for my 2nd baby shower this weekend with all my MK gals and am so excited!! Just before Matthew left to go back to work we said goodbye to a member of the family and a best friend anyone could have. Our dog Rocky got very ill on Wednesday last week and we took him to the vet to find out his white blood cell count was very high and he had an inflammed pancreas. Sometime during the night between Monday and Tuesday he left us to be at peace and free of pain. He was such a good dog and loved our boys oh so much. He was such a great member of the family and I am so happy that 7 years ago we found him out of nowhere in the Bull Mountains and he attached to Matthew and we brought him home. He will truly be missed and I am so happy he was a part of our lives.

Update

Well I don't have any pictures to post this time as the boys have broken our camera so we are saving up to buy a new one. I just wanted to update everyone on our lil girl. I had a doctor appointment on Wednesday this week and everything still looks great! Her hear rate fluctuated quite a bit when the nurse was listening for it. It was 132 and then she moved and it jumped to 153! Matthew's response was "wow! She must really be out of shape if she jumps that much just from moving!" Oh what a funny daddy we have! Anyways the doctor felt the baby and said she measuring pretty good. He said she should be between the weight of Tristan and Aaydan which is either a lil under 7 pounds or a lil over. I have already been having some pains in my cervix and lots of braxton hicks contractions so she may be arriving before we know it! I just hope Matthew is home on his 2 weeks when she decides to come! Anyways that is an update on us not much really. We are getting ready to celebrate Tristan's 5th birthday this month on the 27th and Matthew and I have our 7year anniversary on the 16th this month. I will try to continue to keep you all posted and hopefully have some pictures for you!
