RAY REAGAN AND THE RAYGUNS - "Salt And Pepper" (2010)

I got a nice care package from pStan Batcow over at Pumf Records the other day, and one of the CD's he sent was this one by Ray Reagan and the Rayguns, that according to the liner notes was recorded around 1983, forgotten about, and stored in an attic for decades!

This is a pretty good CD, and the music runs the gamut from Surf to Ska to Punk, and even some Country music, and it's truly uncanny how much Ray Reagan's vocals sound like pStan Batcow.

Ray Reagan and the Rayguns is Pumf #651 and was released in 2010, and after you decide you want your own copy, you can head on over to The Pumf Site to get one, and while you're there, be sure to check out the rest of the massive Pumf Catalogue.

Times are hard everywhere right now, but good times can still be had for a small price if you play your cards right, and here's a great song that sounds like it might have been recorded in the back room of some Redneck bar in Bakersfield to prove it!

HOBILLY-JERRY ADAMS - "R.I.P." (2020)

I was just informed by Chris Phinney of Harsh Reality Music that the Cincinnati Legnd Hobilly-Jerry Adams has passed away in his sleep on June 21, 2020. Chris and Jerry go way back and Jerry had just recently contributed to Chris's massive compilation called "High Risk of Rainbows and Hair Ribbons (I've Got The Corona Virus Blues) with a piece called "Nostradamas Speaks" that you can check out right here!

One of Jerry's earliest recordings was this "Porkopolis" cassette released as Peppermint Subway titled "Subterrainian Jungle"

HR
The tape "Peppermint Subway" was also released on Harsh Reality as HR121 - C60 (Alternative rock from Ohio) back in 1988!

You can access most of everything Jerry has ever recorded on his  Soundcloud page!
Here's just one of the songs off of this cassette that you'll find there.....
HOBILLY-JERRY ADAMS - "Destination X"
I personally never made contact with Jerry although we traded tapes with a lot of the same people like Don Campau back in the day.
Here's some more information about Jerry from Don's
"Living Archive Of Underground Music!"
 and
Here's a link to his Facebook page!

DONALD CAMPAU - "Transition Man" (1993)

I don't know why I don't have this tape, I'm sure I used to because it's got a couple of songs where Hermanos Guzanos provided the bulk of the music. I had to do an internet search to find this image. Don Campau would probably work with anybody. He didn't hesitate doing these tunes with us.

Here's what I have. On this song, Don wrote the lyrics and did the vocals, Brian James Riedel played the bass, and Gary Wray and myself are playing guitars! It's a trick I tell you!

GLEN ARMSTRONG AND THE DIRTY CLERGY - "Under A Van Gogh Sky" (1990)

I don't often return to any of these cassettes, but this is one of my favorites, and it's been seven years since the last time I wrote about it!

It's pretty simple, this tape is just too good!
The good Reverend is singing and playing guitar and banjo, and he's joined by Howard Byrne on drums, Dan Higgins on bass, M.J. Hill on keyboards, Scott Pinkston on sax, Archie Anderson on acoustic guitar, Danny Ascenzo on sax, and the beautiful Glennettes, Sandra Kaye and Nancy Rice doing backup vocals.

Every song on this tape is the best, but here's one that tears the roof off the joint! Hold onto your hat!

RICH ARITHMETIC - "Sleep In A Wigwam" (1994)

In 1994 Rich Horton put out a CD called "Sleep In A Wigwam" on his Optional Art label. I never heard of it until a month or so ago, and for the life of me, I don't know why. Working as Rich Arithmetic, Rich quietly put out a CD that is a minor masterpiece of the time. It's one of those rare ventures into music that is just good from start to finish! Except for the drums and some harmony vocals etc, Rich is doing everything!
Life in 2020 pretty much sucks, but despite everything, it just keeps getting more interesting for me, thanks to people like Rich Horton and blasts from the past like this!
Optional Art is no longer operational, but if you'd really like to get a copy of this CD, you might try contacting Rich yourself at richiro51@yahoo.com

There's a lot of great music on this CD, but my particular favorite of the moment is this little ditty!
Be careful or you might wake up in the middle of the night with it embedded in your skull like "a kiss at the end of a wet fist!"

VIKTIMIZED KARCASS - "Strolling Down The Middle Patrolling" (1991) (2020)

Chris Phinney has been real busy lately digitizing the whole Harsh Reality catalogue of stuff that was only available on cassette before! This tape called "Living Hard Young & Getting Old" was originally released in 1991 on Lord Litter's cassette label "Out Of The Blue" but is no longer available!

You can just listen, or buy the downloadable CD for a buck at this Harsh Reality Bandcamp page!

Who'da ever thunk a group called Viktimized Karcass would make a song about golf? It just shows to go you that you should never stereotype anybody or anything until you know the truth!
And not just a song about golf, a song about golf with a shredding guitar!
Now that's a rarity!
All tracks recorded live Feb.15th, 1991 at Harsh Reality Music.

BOB Z. - "Packed Up And Leaving" (1990)

Long before Jay Z, there was a cat called Bob Z. from NYC.
Bob Z. was one busy cat, making muzik, publishing zines......

......So it's not surprising that on this tape, all songs, words, and music, lead and backing vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass and percussion were done by Bob himself. The tape was also engineered and produced by Bob.
So here's the title song from this tape, a catchy little number with a lot of charm that I really like!
