B.E.A.C.H -

Ange, Ying and I on our weekend beach outing. Took us over an hour to walk to the beach. SUch a lovely day it was.
Happy me on the beach
I went to the beach again a few days ago - wasn't quite the perfect weather, but hey. At least it didn't rain. I met an elective student from the UK who wanted to see what NZ beaches are like, but hasn't had a chance to visit ours, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to take her there (despite the weather!) The waves were awesome!

I LOVE the beach :)

I have just under 2 months left as a student! And then, a bit of a break, then the working live begins! Whee! Exciting times I tell you! God has been SO good!

I just checked the results of the marathon yesterday and out of all the walkers of the half marathon, I was number 366, completing the race in 3:16:28. :) Thinking back, I did enjoy the half marathon. Especially on such a great day too - weather-wise. Not like the cold that we've been getting the past week. Brr.

I am uber excited about what God's doing in my life. After our missions meeting earlier, I am really pumped to see what God has in store for us and the Indonesians we're going to visit. Lots of miracles, I say!

Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart

Moro marathon -

Look at the clouds! Aren't they lovely! :)
We each had a large moro choc bar in our packs :)
Part of the team :)
Walking next to lovely waters :) It was such a beautiful day for the marathon
Swans?
I was SO happy to see the 1km sign! hahaha
Pretty dog!
Resting at the finish line.
Our one and only Mr Flash, who completed the half marathon run in 1hr 35mins in his flash costume :) And Mr Panda in the background, who walked the half marathon in 3h 50mins or sth like that. I can only imagine that he got so hot in that costume! Even the Flash had to take off his mask for most of the run because it was pretty hot that day.

So I completed my walk, 21.5km, in 3h 17mins or so. It was great to walk through the finish line, and I don't think I'll do it again unless I have some proper training (and most likely, the next time I do it, I'll probably run it instead). haha. It was nice to pass some people near the end as I rushed towards the finish line. And praise God for such awesome weather too! :D I've got some annoying tan lines now, which I need to even out with time. haha.

My legs were a bit sore after the marathon, but they are getting better now. The pain in a way reminded me of how thankful I am to have legs to walk on, because not everyone has the privilege of owning their own legs.

It's pretty windy in Dunedin today. Excellent warm weather though, I must add, which makes me happy :) A high of 23 degrees. I am pleased. The weather forecast says that it will not last, unfortunately. Oh well. Helps me to appreciate the few excellent weathers Dunedin has to offer. *smiles*

Waiting no more -

...(part of my offer letter)...

So it is official (well I still am waiting for the hard copy of my letter to arrive and I'll sign the offer letter); but I have a job for next year. AND, I will be working at Waikato hospital, which is my first choice all along, as I have mentioned somewhere in one of my earlier posts :) God is good!

A little background to the situation. Due to the fact that I was going to be in Brisbane when the list of hospitals available for the 2nd match was due to be released, I called Waikato hospital beforehand and told them that I was interested in working with them, and the RMO said to just submit my CVs etc to them (I was thinking Waikato will still be in the list for the 2nd match - didn't know it was going to be filled up so fast!) and they will see what they can do. When the list came out a couple of weeks later, I ranked the hospitals, not really minding where I end up because I've never really thought of working in those hospitals before, and surrendered the whole situation to God. Last week, I checked my emails and there were two emails. First one was from ACE stating that I didn't get matched to any hospitals. The devastated feeling lasted only a couple of seconds when I quickly clicked on the next email (because I had to rush back to theatre for the next surgery) and saw that it was from Waikato hospital, offering me a position to start work in February! Of course I took the job! :D

So it all fell into place. I still find it amazing how God worked the situation out. How He gave me the wisdom to call Waikato hospital before I left for Brisbane and how He led the RMO to get me to send in my documents. And the fact that I was able to have 3 months off before starting work - so that I am able to go on the mission trip to Indonesia in Dec with the team from church! After praying for so many months, God has finally answered my prayers! All glory to Him!

Now I just have to sort out accommodation etc for next year. It will be an exciting new year. A whole new experience. No longer a student, but a working adult.

God is good!

And I am surviving on this surgical rotation. I actually am looking forward to going to work at 730am(or earlier) every working day (which is bizzare!), and I am enjoying all the various things I'm learning/seeing each day. Loving it! Loving being a s00n-to-be-doctor. :) 10.5 more weeks to go!

Dad -

Nando's London
With the many menus :)
Dad with his girls on his 50th

I know for most of us, Father's Day was a while ago now, but down under we are celebrating it tomorrow, and I can't help but think that it is Father's Day tomorrow. :) So here is a post dedicated to my daddy.

I don't know this for a fact, but I bet that 24 years ago, my dad was filled with excitement, knowing that his firstborn was due in a few months. And was he proud when I entered the world. :D hehe...I know. Sarah and Sam will argue to say that they were the ones that dad's proud of. Anyhoo. I can remember, back in the days, when I started to learn to ride the bicycle and was transitioning from the 4 wheels (2 extra small wheels for support on the bike) to 2 wheels, and dad would give me support by holding my seat so that I don't wobble too much on the bike as I tried to balance myself. And then he'd let go slowly until I was confident to ride it on my own. That was such an accomplishment! I can't remember how old I was at that stage.

I also remember when he'd come back from work and join us kids playing badminton. It was always great pairing up with my dad because it means that I'm on the winning side :) hehe. Those childhood times were the best with my dad - I reckon it was seeing my dad lots in the garden pulling out weeds that I got into it as well! But as most parents would say, children grow up fast and soon it was time for me to leave the nest and go overseas. I must say that I was glad that dad came with me on my first trip here, cos I would have gotten lost in Dunedin (he was the one with the map you see). :) I can't wait to have my family all here, except Sam :(, at the end of the year!

Dad was always the quiet and soft spoken one in the family. And although lots of people say I look like my mom on the outside, I actually take after my dad in terms of his character and personality. :) That's where my patience comes from I think! haha.. Always calm and collected in every situation. I don't think I've ever seen him freak out frantically over something. He's also a hard worker and does his best in everything. There was a time when he took a distance learning theologically course from some place in Australia, and I still am amazed at how he can work, take care of his family and spend time with us, AND study the course all at the same time! He did well of course, and we are proud of him. I am proud of my dad :) It goes to show that if I manage my time well, I can do many things too, and still excel :) (Nonetheless, it all works well too with mom's support, so yea, gotta give her some credit :) )

I grew up knowing that dad was in the leadership team in church. And I was used to hearing him give messages in church. In the past few years, dad has started to put in more jokes in his messages, which I find amusing, having always known him to be the serious kind of man. :) Yea. Go dad! :) hehe. I'd say he's the best speaker in church for this decade :D

What astounds me as well is my dad's physical fitness. Oh my. I went running with him once and I struggled to catch up - here a 50 year old vs a erm, 24 year old. hmm. Guess that's a challenge for me to conquer! :)

Oh and I remember asking dad lots to help me with my homework from school when I was young. haha. and by help, it pretty much meant re-writing my essays most of the time, and I end up getting excellent grades because it was pretty much my dad's essay (ooo..the truth comes out! haha) Thanks for those times dad! The credit actually goes to you! haha..

I love my dad lots! I would not trade for another dad. Nope. Never. Period.

Thanks for everything dad - especially spending time with us as we were growing up, despite the busy-ness. I'll see you soon! xoxo

Art -

Bits of the same painting (above and below)
It's September already? I was still getting used to writing dates in August! I just have under 3 months as a student. Unbelievable!

During the weekend, I decided to have a very relaxing one - and took out my artsy-crafty stuff. It was a LONG time since I last painted. So off I went mixing all the different colours. I still surprise myself with the final art piece. A brush stroke here, a dab of colour there - and just like magic, voila! Art work. It makes me think about how God works too. I love looking at the sky at any time of the day. In the morning, when the sun rises and changes the darkness to an orange-y glow to a light blue and in the mid afternoon, with the high (or low) puffy (or streaky) clouds, then moving on to sunset where it changes back to the orange-y, purple-y shades and at night, with the wisp of whitish-grey clouds on a dark background filled with yellow spotty stars. I always am in awestruck wonder how God does that - and to think that it's not the same everyday either! God is such a creative God!

I'm loving the fact that spring is here. More daylight hours=more sunshine(theoretically, but this is Dunedin)=happy me. :) I'm still getting used to the sun setting at 6ish pm! Soon it'll be 9pm and it'll still be light outside! :)

Anyhoo, I'm babbling. Have a fun-filled day with Jesus! God bless!
