Settled Down.

I know that it has been a long time since I last posted. I had an enjoyable birthday this year. I didn't get a birhtday cake for the first time. Don't know if i should be happy a not. On one hand, I know that I'm too old for a birthday cake. But on the other, I really love to eat birthday cake and make a wish. I when to Genting with my mum, uncle and auntie. Had a great time. I got to enter a casino once and observe the "real" thing. Well, have to wait till I'm 21 before playing in Genting. Maybe can go on cruise to gamble at the end of the year. You need to be above 18 to play in the casino on the cruise.
Been posted to 3DIV for 2 months already. How time flys! I'm settled down in this camp already. Made many new friends here. Except for the morning runs, I'm enjoying it here. My MTLine is made up of mostly malays. Not that I mind. I'm going to be promoted to 3SG on the 15 of Oct. Seems very far from now. Till then, Bye!

DB

Had a very eye-opening day today. I was asked to escort three people to DB today. For those who don't know, DB (Detention Barrack) is equal to our civilian prison. I really pity one guy. He is a driver from is mt (motor transport) line. He is going in because of his helpfulness. When my OC issued him the charge order, there was tears in his eyes. I really wonder if he deserve his punishment. As my position of an escort, to my fellow army buddies, don't be so foolish to be charged. It will stain your whole life forever.

National Day Pride

Tomorrow is national day. Singapore's birthday. I have driving detail tomorrow. On one hand, it sucks, but on the other, it is a once in a lifetime experience to be involved in the NDP. This year, I will be playing a small but vital role in the success of the NDP. It has been a long time since I saw the parade live. I cannot wait for the fireworks tomorrow night. This will be the most wonderful moment in the whole parade. It is the moment when I feel that I am truly fortunate to be a Singaporean. Happy Birthday SINGAPORE!

Depressed..........

I'm feeling very low now. Having a mixture of emotions that I cannot control. I'm sad, confused, alone. The changes in my life is putting a toll on myself. New camp, new unit, new friends, new unknowns. Why now? I have been through these situations before but why can't I handle them now? Am I too comfortable where I am now? Maybe.. Where are my friends when I need help? Busy with their lives I guess. Why not seek help? From who?

Maybe things are not as bleak as I thought them to be. Maybe I will like the new changes in my life. Maybe.... Only time can tell. Time...

Mood Swing

Got my new posting today. i'm posted to 3rd div HQ CMTL which is at Jurong Camp. Don't kow whether to be happy or sad. The camp is very near my house but the irony is that Jurong camp is a stay-in unit. :(

Today is the first day that I'm a Transport Supervisor. After 10 weeks of training, I finally graduated with my fellow course mates. Looking back, I really had an enjoyable time with all the guys. All the fun times (playing "monkey", piling), all the tough times (camo tonner in the middle of the night), all the funny times (sg angSSS) and all the blur times (anyhow update log books, never put orientation sign). I will miss you guys when we post out of STC next friday. These few weeks were better than my BMT and will be something that I will remember for a long time.

Jealous?

These photos were taking on my cousin's birthday. Look carefully and you will see that the cake is a 3-D barbie doll! Haha. Of course only the dress part could be eaten. Why wasn't there such cakes when I was a kid? Maybe i could have a 3-D big bird cake! Haha. Are you jealous? I know I am.

Picture says a thousand words

Some photos took during the exercise. Enjoy:-

Out Field

Being out into the wilderness these few weeks. Learned and put into practise those things that i have learned during the classroom lessons. The outdoors training was physically taxing and mentally challenging to both my course mates and myself but we still managed to put through. Thinking back, we had a great time. All the scolding and quarrelling with each other when our camoflauge net had gotten stuck and the times when we bitched about how tough and troublesome some procedures were during our convoy movement have really bonded us together.

At this part of the course, we only have 3 more weeks before we pass out from this course and go to our seperate units and camps. We will still have to clear 3 more written exams. xfingers crossedx

I when back to collect my 'a' level cert last saturday. As i walked into the school, I noticed how much the school has changed. The temp container classrooms have been teared down and new buildings are coming up. Thinking back, I have only left JJC for 6 months only. Wonder how my JC friends are doing. I will have to find time to meet up with them and catch up.

If you have been seeing my countdown timer, the sixth Harry Potter book : Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is going to be released in less than a month's time. I'm getting more and more excited as this day approachs.

It is almost the end of my fifth month since my enlistment. I am still surviving. There are surely good and bad days but overall, I'm enjoying my national service and have learned alot of new things from the army. :)

Monotone Life

Been so long since I properly blogged. Couldn't say that I was very busy. Just that life everyday is pretty much the same. Wake up at six, go to camp, start classes at eight... blar blar blar... one more month to go before end of course. can't wait for that day to come. Time really passes very quickly. Friends who are enlisted on april are about to pass out from BMT already.

I have accepted NUS offer for mechnical engneering. Although it is not my top choice i.e. aerospace engneering, I am also happy with their offer.

Boredom

Sometimes when people are too free and have nothing to do, they can come up with some weird ideas to pass time. My friends called each other on the phone when they are sitting less than 10m apart.

"Hello"

"Hi"

"What you doing?"

"Nothing"

Update

Long time since I blogged. I have finally completed my driver course and obtain my military driving license. I'm quite happy about it but will be even more happy if it was a civilian driving license. I'm the best trainee for my group. This came to me as a surprise. Didn't except to get best trainee at all cause I know there are plenty of people who are better drivers than me. I know that one of my friend in the group was really looking forward to get this award. He should be getting this award instead of me.

First time driving without an instructor and without the "L" plate was really shiok ah. I really enjoy driving very much. I will not be driving much after today since being a transport supervisor, I will be doing more paperwork than actual driving.

I just received a letter from NUS stating that they are offering me a place in mechanical engineering. Cannot decide if I will be taking up their offer. I'm still hoping NTU will offer me a place in aerospace engineering. I know that the chances are very slim but who knows.... X fingers crossed X

This is my fourth month in the army. Time passes very quickly if no one keeps track of the time. Everyday is still a learning experience for me. There is surely some thing I can learn from someone each day and the stories told by some of my friends and superior never fail to amaze me.

Not going to waste more time typing this blog. My eyelids are auto shutting down. Will update when I find the time.

Transport Supervisor Trainee

That is my vocation. I'm now posted to Sembawang Camp, Supply and Transport Centre, Transport Training Wing. Have been doing nothing these two weeks but I will be starting my driver course next Monday. I will be staying in for 5 weeks because of this course. Cannot believe that I will be driving a 3 tonner. I have to complete 4 different courses before I can officially be a Transport Supervisor. I will also be promoted to a 3rd sergeant at the end of all the courses. Wish me luck!

HK Update

Finally able to update my blog on my short holiday to Hong Kong. Had a great time in HK. Enjoy great food from dian xing to baked cheese lobster. (Yummy!!) Stay in my auntie's house. She is staying on the 58th floor! Unbelievable right! The condos goes up to 70 floors. Wonder how are the residents going to cope if all the lifts break down. Haha. Got to learn something new. Since the blocks are so tall, they have a floor called the emergency floor. It is a floor where there is nothing. Totally nothing. The floor is for resident to stay when the building is on fire and since fire needs a fuel to burn and the emergency floor does not have anything, the fire will not reach this floor and the residents are so called "safe".

Anyway, I'm sure I will be going back to HK in the near future since Disneyland will be opening in Lautau Island, near the airport at the end of this year. In the mean time, enjoy these photos.

Hk Here I Come!

I will be leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow. Will be away til sun (20/3). If want anything from HK can sms me. I'm bringing my phone along.
Went to the army's lion trail thingy today. It was a national education trip talking about the japanese occupation. I think it was a total waste of time. The guide was an old, old man and he was talking at a very slooowwww pace. The journey back home after the NE tour was so long. It took me 2.5hrs just to get back home. zZz...
For those people who are not on this planet, I have changed my number. The new number is 92480092.

I have uploaded all my BMT photos.

BMT Completed!

7 weeks of BMT is over! I am on leave until the 20nd of March. I will be going to Hong Kong (again) for holiday from the 15th to the 20nd. My posting will only be released on the 18th. Being a slacker, hopefully it will be a 9-to-5 job in an aircon environment. Haha. Will my platoon mates be posted to the same unit? Got a strange dream that I was posted to the navy at Tuas Navel Base. Foresight? Hmmm.. Will know soon enough. For the time being, slack and slack and slack.

Below are two photos for my section buddies. Enjoy!

Results.

Gotten back my 'A' level results yesterday and gotten what i expected. A for maths, B for physics and C for economics. B4 for General Paper. On a whole, JJC's results improved, which was surprising. Some of my JC and secondary school friends underperform this time round. But my army mates all have gotten excelent results. The top student from our batch came from my platoon. I was so shocked to see his name on today's papers. I guess he will be the talk of the town when I book in later.

I am going to pass out from BMTC on tuesday, wonder where will the army post me. I really hope that the new camp will not be too far from home.

12 More Days...

March 9, my passing out day. Where will I be posted to? I don't know. BMT has taught me many things, learning to shoot a rifle, throwing a live grenade, foot drills, field camp, etc. i feel that I have grown during these past few weeks. I must admit that not all days were enjoyable and fun.

Army Moments

Happy Chinese New Year everyone. Hope you will have a great and wonderful year ahead. I am enjoying my long break. I will book in only on Sunday night! Chinese New Year is a bit quiet for me this year. More time is spent resting. Haha. Okay, I'm very lazy...

The last few weeks in the army has taught me a lot. I learned to be more humble. Before, I used to think that I was slightly above average. However, when enlisted, I saw that there were a lot of very smart people and I was nobody. I'm not saying that I am looking down on myself but I just see things differently now.

I also learn to control myself and watch what I was saying. Living in such close proximity for 2 weeks surely caused tension and unhappiness between bunk mates. But on a whole, the whole experience is very wonderful. I have made many new friends. Some who are quite close.

For those who have not been enlisted, my advice is to take national service with an open mind. Try not to judge a person immediately. Most of the time, a person who seemed very quiet at first then to be the noisiest. Ha.

Will stop crapping liao. Looking forward to field camp next Monday. Try to update again before booking in but no promises... haha. Happy New Year. Ciao~

Yes Sir / No Sir

Most of my friends are entering the army these few days. Chia Wei and Daryl today. Gary, Kok Haw and Bing Yao tomorrow. Ben next week. For me, I still have 2 more weeks. All of us are leaving behind our civilian lives and taking on military lives. Hmmm... To see all of us in army uniforms and with toilet-brush heads will be interesting.

Happy 2005!

Happy New Year! Into 2005 already! It has been a very WET new year.. Has been raining non-stop since I-don't-know-when. The Asia tsunami crisis which hit many countries has taken away the lives of many innocent people. Please do your part and donate to help those in need!

Closer to home, I failed my Final Theory Test for my driving.. Can't believe I failed... Going to retake the test on the 14th. Most of my friends are going to be enlisted in the army next week. Time really flies. My enlistment is only 3 weeks away.

graduation was great! Met with all my classmates after the "a" levels was interesting. One month does great differences. Had a wonderful time. The next time we meet again will be when we are collecting our results.

May we all have a great year ahead! Happy 2005!
