7b outing at muthu's curry :)

yoohoo~ here're the photos taken at our latest outing on 29th Dec 2007, Muthu's Curry @ Suntec:)

dishing out the humongous eyeballs of the curry fish head @@

zonghan getting drunk... from plain water?

left over food

satisfied looks

the remains of the curry fish head which we couldn't finish... zh's the main culprit!

where're the masala prawns?!?

the briyani was free flow but we didn't know...

so adrian had to down the white rice... (which was free flow too)

hmm what's going on?

arh... here're the masala prawns...

why's adrian looking at joel that way?

i dunno what's going on here...

zhixuan are u listening to wenyuan?!?

i also know how to count... 2x4=8, not 7!

in conclusion, the mini 7b outing was a good one. for once it felt like a family dinner... as to why we chose muthu's curry, well, that's quite a long story... but i think we had an enjoyable meal, didn't we? :D plus, a 7b business plan was hatched by the mastermind zh. the gist of it was that we'll start a polyclinic that provides consultation by the western med doctors and chinese sinsehs and dentist and pharmacists and physiotherapist (slot in the appropriate names) and adrian will be the cleaner.
in case anybody's wondering why the masala prawns were mentioned twice, that's because they cost $6 per piece (exc 10% service charge and 7% gst). not very ex actually =.=
happy new year everyone!

KTV night!

when: 13th Dec 2007, Thursday

where: most likely KBox at Cineleisure

cost: supposedly $18++ but because it's ladies night, cover charge for ladies is waived so it'll probably work out to be less. hence the more girls go, the better :)

who (for now): me, zhiqing, adrian, joel, zhixuan, zonghan. everyone else is welcome!

the KTV thing starts at 1900, so maybe we can meet at 1800 at Orchard for dinner first before heading down to cine. do drop me an sms/email so that we'll know who to anticipate.

see ya all soon! :)

Sunday, November 25, 2007

i looked up SIA's future deployment plans for the A380...sorry to disappoint you siaohui but doesnt look like the a380 will be flying to melbourne anytime soon...the A380s that are gonna be delivered to SIA next year will all be on the london-singapore-sydney route...the years after that, some of them will be flying to the US through japan...so if you want to get on the a380, you'll have to fly to sydney...i'm also looking forward to getting a chance to ride that magnificent feat of engineering but don't think i'll be able to anytime soon...

hope everyone's well! i'm having my exams in 2 wks' time and will end on the 19th...gonna have a real short winter break of 2 wks' and den sch reopens on the 3rd of jan again...boohooo...temperature has dipped below 0 since this wk and i've just endured my first (relatively minor) snowstorm of the season...snow is fun!!!

Boooo!! How's everyone?
I've finished exams and in fact landed in spore in the afternoon a while ago! :) Now feeling so sticky and humid that I wanna go bathe again. heez hope I'll get used to the weather soon :p

Btw I saw the Airbus A380 parked in the airport! too bad it's not going to fly to melbourne but Sydney instead (hopefully only for the time being). haha guess it'll be quite an experience and seems like the facilities are much better as well even for the economy class. My impression of it might be a result of the rather huge amount of advertisement from the tv screen and magazines while I was onboard the SQ plane though :p

Jiayou to all those still having exams! Cya soooonnnn!! :)

make some noise Part II

since hs said "those who finish exams should make some noise", here i am.

More Nostalgia 2

Hi guys,

it's 10.21pm now and i'm starting to panic beacause i've not done anything for my studio session which is on tml. I thought visiting the class blog would calm me down but its not helping......much.

Anyway, here are some of my recollections of our class...

Er.....

damn, i am too flustered to remember anything

ok, better go back to work now......:P

oh yeah, i rem playing chapteh in class once and falling on the floor in front of everyone
i also rem fy and hs competing to see who would eat the slowest :P
erm.....the genting and kuching trips where everyone (who went) had fun :) esp the hazy night in the genting amusement park which was just surreal...kinda like the aurora borealis

hmmm...................

better get back to work, damn

more nostalgia

wow, the previous posts made me feel really nostalgic. and it's so interesting that fy actually wrote down all these stuff :)

i kinda regretted not doing anything like that, cos i think my memory is seriously failing me for i only have very vague impressions of certain things that happened before, ie samuel and his ping pong balls. i think i rem the water bottle one. but then again, maybe phys tutes were not worth remembering =x and if sh didn't mention the homecoming carnival, i think i would have forgotten that it ever happened. haha.

anyway, i totally remember the birthday songs during GP lessons one. and i will always remember the "showdown" between Ms Liaw and Li Yuan :P of course, i also remember the calculator one! damn boliao lar, but what to do, i think we needed some spice in our lectures. and do you guys remember some of us actually played chess on the floor in the LT during lectures? lol.

oh, and also, we were the crazy people who chiong-ed to class even before the bell went off, not because we were enthu but because we wanted back row seats. when back row seats were taken up, people would pull tables to the very back and try to form yet another row behind the back row.

also i remember that we collaborated with some of the seniors to play a trick on one of the seniors by pretending to be his angel. come to think of it, i think it was pretty mean la, but it was quite funny at the same time.

and one more thing, i remember that during the pre-A levels period, some of us would go to school to study together in the reading room, where we would get chased out by uncle Chong at night. after a while, we decided to have healthy snacks so we bought stuff like grapes and cherry tomatoes instead of chocolates. we also had study breaks where we actually went to swim (oohh, this subject brings back some memories of swimming at PE lessons), play basketball, play piano in the student lounge and have a mini ktv session.

i miss you guys and the crazy things that we used to do :(

carnival times

heyhey!! fy & hs's posts are sooooo funny!! hahaha i was laughing away as well when reading them. make me feel so nostalgic now as i'm reminded of all those jc times :) missing the chicken rice stall in our canteen and our class bench!

hmm i remember that when we were sitting in the auditorium while waiting for the opening ceremony of the carnival, we were the only class that was so distinctly brown or rather yellow with our PE t-shirts as compared to the rest of the people who were so orange! haha remember that time, we were supposed to buy the orange t-shirts to wear for the carnival and if i'm not wrong, it costs $5. heard tutors from other class telling their students that it's in a way compulsory while jerry just simply doesn't bother if we buy it or not =P

Shall post some pics to refresh ur memory! it was then that mr tan & ms wang got dunked into the pool also!

cheers, siao hui :)

my contribution to foonyin's list

Here's two things i remember:

- We used to ask Mag Tan lots of unrelated questions at bio tutorial coz she'll always diverge and spend the whole tutorial talking about non-tutorial related stuff...that way, those who hadn't done their tutorial had an extra day to "catch-up". =P

- The guys were going to Coro to "click click" during Principal's address once when we just stepped out of the school gates and Jerry was driving back to school from his lunch. He honked at us, stopped his car, rolled down his window and asked us where we were going...we told him we were going to "get some food" and he just said "ok, don't come back too late" although he obviously knew we were up to something...he even asked us if we enjoyed our lunch at the next tutorial...

classic jerry moment man! =D

slowly.... turning this into my own blog HAHA

wow isn't it amazing, 3 entries in 1 month! (just take a look at the right hand side of the blog... it's an average of 1 per mth)

anyway, i just finished an exam today! yay! hooray! hey hey! come what may!

...
...
...
...

was flipping through my 'diary' one day and i found sth interesting... i actually wrote down a whole list of things that characterised 7b (from my tiny point of perspective)... not sure if anybody can identify with any of them but i'm sure at least some of these will sound familiar to u... and hopefully will bring back some fond memories haha :D

1. afternoon PE cum bball session: po anyhow throwing his 3pt-ers which surprisingly scored most of the time; adrian playing tricks with the ball e.g. making sure the girls don't get it; kokhao demonstrating to us amateurs how bball should be played; joel throwing the ball over-board; sy practising his lay-ups again and again; jas proving to the guys that girls can play bball too; and me, laughing myself away throughout the game

2. GP: stinking up the aircon classroom on that particular day of the week when we had PE before the break before GP; not greeting our gd mornings or gd afternoons properly again and again; singing bday songs in english and chinese and english again when it's somebody's bday (or even when it's nobody's) simply to irritate our gp tutor and to drag time of cos

3. phy tut: watching our phy tutor 'hang' halfway through the lesson; watching the innovative demonstrations that he's planned for us (think water bottle, pingpong balls); doing our own stuff while he continued to hang

4. phy lecture: playing the calculator game i.e. competing to press the = sign as fast as possible and see who gets the highest score at the end.

5. girls' toilet excursion to the audi toilet, usually initiated by chris

6. guys' toilet excursion, usually initiated by po

7. going to tchs during breaks to eat and play chapteh/bball/soccer

8. playing chapteh/cards at the class bench

9. class reps: whatever rep it is, it's hs's job

10. bio tutorial: enjoying/enduring the cold lame jokes of our bio tutor

11. guys going over to coro to click click during sch hours, despite our warnings

12. SHE: eating plastic (bag) food

13. GAYS: making fun of the SHE; making funny noises during tutorials

14. maths/ chem lecture: sitting/mass sleeping at the top/last row of the lt dunno what we're hiding from or why we're hiding. maybe it's just the lack of seats in front.

15. field soccer: sy fending himself off opponents with his splattering perspirations; adrian playing tricks again; joel and qn and kh doing the real job; hs being the hapless goalkeeper as always; po kicking the ball high into the air from one end of the field to the other hoping tt it'll score just like his bball 3pt-ers; shurui proving to the guys that girls can play soccer too if not better; me laughing myself away as always

16. ck the class kat. meow.

17. #03s7b irc channel tts flooded with brainless chats. and scandals.

18. bio prac: rushing like mad esp towards to end. yea i can only recall the madness, not the content of the practicals.

and the list goes on...

anyone has anything to contribute?

(btw, i meant no offense to anybody, if in any case somebody disagrees with me or feels offended in any way:X)

reporting from Melbourne

hellos! :)

*raises hand* i still read this blog!

well, updates about me. i've been pretty busy the past few weeks cos i was part of the organising committee for our MAF here. it was fun and interesting to see that the ang mohs actually knew the answers to the trivia questions. but i suppose nothing could beat MAF celebrations back at HC. i miss the songs, the mass dances :( on the actual MAF night i was over at a friend's place, and being a fellow HC-ian we were going high on mass dances songs such as Time of our Life. but we kinda forgotten the dance moves already. boohoo.

fy: yeah i saw the photo on facebook :) and i was trying so hard to remember Ms Chen's name. i was like: she looks familiar, i think she relief-taught us before, but i totally can't rem her name/surname. lol. nice to know that she still remembers us!

anyway, the 7b-ians in Melbourne met up yesterday. no photos this time because, well, we just didn't take any :P we had Jap food for lunch, and then headed to Chin's place to play Risk. kinda like a pseudo-Settler's outing every time we meet up eh. haha. 2 months more before we head back to Singapore! (we are leaving Chin behind though, unfortunately) so looking forward to seeing all of you again sooooooooooooooon!

for now, there're a couple more assignments, projects, exams to get through first, including the final paper for this year which combines EVERYTHING we learnt from year 1 + 2. i am so dead :(

Who just went/is going overseas?

I know Lionel and Liu Yun just went overseas this semester to start uni...anyone else who just left as well??

Anyway how are all you overseas pple doing? I hope you guys are still reading this blog...hahaha...

Thx for the recent update on the happenings of our class people in Singapore foonyin!

random updates, random thoughts

it's been a looong time since somebody posted something... does anybody still read this blog?!

well well...today i read the sunday times and guess what, ms liaw's photo was up with her byline (in case anybody's MIA for too long, ms liaw's been a st journalist after leaving hc)! i guess she must have been promoted haha...

and there was an outing organised by lionel yesterday... how was it? (sorry i couldnt go...)

oh and last sat was hc maf... some of us (me christina cuiqin zonghan quanning joel lionel adrian)went back to hc after dinner at adam road... think there's a picture on the facebook so yall can go take a look... the lightings were beautiful as usual, there was this huge star and a purple dragon spanning across the top of central plaza... and the make-a-wish fountain at the flag pole as usual... there was the song singing session as usual, but somebodyss very spoilsport don't want to join in *glare at zh*... said we're too old for these... yea so i ended up looking like a crazy person being over enthu and singing songs jumping up and down making chris and cq miserable... :( and so we left in the midst of the song session, WAY before the dance session started...*glare hard at..*

oh and we met ms chen! she's still the same old self... and she remembers all of us as though it was not too long ago when she taught us chem! and a lot of things tt even i have already forgotten.... she's damn funnylar.... (she thinks lionel looks jap?! she rmbs zh goin to rj but forgot his name?! ) and the funniest thing was, we suddenly felt young again when we saw her.:D

and we saw mr tan... who stood alone with his arms crossed observing everybody around him... it was real funny when we tried to figure out if he's the real or the fake samuel(s)...haha turns out he's the real one! but we didnt talk to him... we ran away when we saw him walking in our direction :S hahaha...after that we saw the fake one(s) passing by every now and then...haha...(or was i disillusioned?)

ok i wanted to write somemore but i'm feeling sleepy liao so maybe i'll just end off here. hopefully somebody else will post sth.... soon!

Itchy fingers

Helloooo... its 5.57 am down under now, and somehow my fingers are feeling really itchy, so I decided to blog! Hansheng, glad your a-ok... mind you, I came out on thursday to visit you in the hospital.. but you had already been discharged, which is a good thing, hahaha... but I never got to send you any well wishes.

Jas, I just read the blog today, didn't realise I was supposed to eat your share of food... hahaha... but I ate both crystal jade and jin tai feng already... so I hope that appeases you? On the honour of a xlb member!

Been winningelevening the past 4 hours at my friend's apartment and I must say its super addictive. I am well and as you can tell, touched down safely in melbourne. Its been a crazy 1st 2 weeks cos of the sheer volume of activities and events that have taken place. It feels like the flu bug is just waiting for the right time to wedge its poisoned knife in me. Hahaha... but god bless all of you from this fate.

Eh... not much else le.. still wondering what I shld do with my life and looking for my niche.. over and out ^^

I'm back!

Hi everyone! I'd like to thank everyone for their concern over the past week for my hospitalization. I would especially like to thank those who visited me in hospital during my short stay there. You guys really cheered me up and kept my mind off the pain! I am now well on the road to recovery and I will be having my stitches removed this Thursday.

For those wondering what happened to me, I'll just give a short explanation here. Basically, I suffered a spontaneous pneumothorax a few weeks ago. It happened when my left lung sprung a leak somehow and air started collecting in my chest, causing my lung to collapse. Patients with the condition are not supposed to fly but since I was too busy moving house before my return to Singapore, I did not worry too much about the slight discomfort I felt in my chest. Only when I returned home did I get the problem checked out by my GP and he referred me to take an x-ray which confirmed the diagnosis.

I was admitted into hospital where a procedure was done to insert a chest tube into my chest so as to remove the air trapped in my chest, allowing my lung to re-exapnd. Thus, I was stuck in bed for two days while a suction machine was hooked up to the chest tube. After 48 hours, the doctor removed the tube and confirmed my lungs had re-expanded by taking another x-ray. Thus, I was discharged from hospital with nothing more than some stitches on my chest to cover the hole that was cut to stick the chest tube in.

Yup, so that's about all and I'm really grateful to be well again! Thanks again for everyone's well-wishes and concern last week!

the people in Melbourne say hi!

that was after a night of Shanghainese food for dinner (we had fried pork dumplings, xiao long bao, fried red bean cake, fried rice cake, pork ball noodles, spicy and sour noodles. yum =D), and 2 games of Munchkin Impossible while chilling out at Starbucks. our pseudo-Settler's Cafe session. heh. i'm quite tempted to buy the game really, it's fun =)

though it was a short meet-up, i enjoyed myself a lot. thanks guys! :) we should go on a day trip/road trip during the next holidays when all of us are staying here. *coughs*staresatChin*coughs*

p/s: Chin, just kidding lar. enjoy your time back home, eat more good food for me ok! :)

it's 1am and i'm not sleepy

so i thought i'd update this blog since it's been a while.

firstly, congrats to those back home in Singapore for having finished your exams! woohoo! :) HanSheng, your exams over too right? and the rest who are in the US or UK, you guys still having your exams? if you are, the bestest and bestest of lucks! =)

secondly, i'm sure SiaoHui and Chin are busy studying hard for their exams now. bestest and bestest of lucks to you guys too! =)

but NOT similarly, ZhiXuan and i have had our exams postponed till July. all because of some lazy bum bum who has deprived me of my winter BREAK. it means i now have to study during my BREAK. wth. it's a long story, but if you are bored like me and want to know why, just hop over to my blog.

anyway, that being said, Dr Zeng: can you please please pretty please send me a copy of your microbio book when you're free? now you have like more than 1 month to send to me and i can still read it before my exams. lol. but actually, i've downloaded a pdf "Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple 3rd Ed", is that the same one?

for those who need medical-related info, you can check out Medical Heaven and dl all the textbooks you want, for FREE :) it even has dentistry stuffs too, so WenYuan, you can check it out as well!

p/s: blog about or post some photos on the Sentosa trip? so that i can be warmed by the love and the sun in the midst of my rainy, gloomy winter :)

a shout-out from down under

hi guys, hope you all are doing well still since the last time i saw you all =)

i'm screaming for help even after the 3rd day of uni, or to be exact, the 2nd day since yesterday was a free day =S for the first sem, the other half of the cohort has this community placement thingy every tues, which makes it a free day for this half of us, and then we swap in the next sem. but even though we have a 4 day week, there's still 20+ hours with almost 8am-5pm on all days. can you imagine, 6 1-hour lectures every wednesday? :(

and also, they made a lot of changes to their teaching style this year, claiming that it's to help us transit into year 3 where there's more "self-directed learning". so got lots more reading and self-studying to do. in my friend's words, we are paying an enormously high amount of school fees for the lecturers/tutors to slack. bleah.

more or less settled down at my new place, but still getting used to it, like i have to turn switches on and off cos i still don't know which one turns on which set of lights. my landlord/landlady are pretty nice people so that's cool. not to mention that i have a nice housemate too, so yeahs :) oh, and thank god the weather's pretty alright in Melbourne now, sometimes hot but at night it's still pretty chilly, so no longer suffering from the heat for now.

what started out to be an update of how i'm doing back in Melbourne kinda seemed to have turned out into complaints and rants. oops. guess i should stop here for now then. take care you all, i miss you!

love lots,
jas =)

Ktv@cine!

Hey hey! This is the group photo for our ktv @ cine! :) a few days before zx and I leave for aus. So sorry guys for the late posting. Surrounded in a big mess now, with everything strewn around everywhere in my new apt. Nothing's being packed at all but finally have my internet connection!
wy and zx left 1st after taking photo, after which at 11 plus, adrian and joel left just in time to take train home followed by sy. We were told that if after 1am, if nobody still came to take over the room, we could sing up till 6am! Hahaz so we continued till ~3am, lionel, jas and I decided to leave 1st and take taxi home. Left with chin and zh who wanted to make full use of the hours. Wonder if they manage to indeed stay up and sing all the way till 6am without falling asleep :P

Thanks guys for the great company and fun!! I guess I won't be able to see many of you guys till at least yr end, while as for lionel, it'll for a few yrs to come! Not forgetting the rest of our class peeps in uk, us and canada too! As for the aussie peeps, haha I'll see ur in melb then.

Here's an early happy CHINESE NEW YEAR to everyone! May ur get lots of hong bao! :D

There is a list of our class people on the right side of the blog with links to their personal blogs. If anyone has a blog i didn't link to or the link is outdated, u can just comment in this post or drop me an email. (Sy's blog is definitely abandoned, but i don't know where he moved to)

Also, those who want to contribute, just give me your email address that you want to use with blogger and i'll send u an invite.

Anyway thanks jas for the tagboard's color change. It looks good now! =D

Cheers,
HS

Blog revamp!

In an effort to try to keep this blog alive, I have decided to revamp this blog with an easier-to-view template (one of the default templates...haha). This way, everyone can see if there has been any updates to this blog at a glance. However, I think the design is not the most impt thing of the blog. The content is!

I hope everyone can make an occasional contribution to the blog in your free time. It would be good if everyone can post some photos they have of any recent 03s7b activities to this blog, and not just post on their own blogs. Share it with the class! It would be good to also get occasional updates from people, like if you've just gone on holiday or tried something new etc.

Anyway, we should also move discussions of class outings to the blog. Think it'll be more effective, especially so that people who are overseas (me!) won't have to keep deleting class email that is not relevant. Hehe...Just need to send an email to tell the class that there is currently a discussion on the blog for the next class outing, so that people who want to go can check out the details and give their feedback.

All that would make for a more interesting blog to read don't you think? I've seen blogs of other HC classes that are still getting regular updates. I'm sure we can do it to! =D

For those who want to post to the blog but currently are not added as a contributor, just drop me an email and it would be rectified.

BTW, i'm not sure who created the tagboard so can't access it to change the colour to match the template. Hopefully the person who created it can change it for me.
