Posted On Behalf of GREGGY!!!
Juz ended a 30minutes phone call with Greg... (Sinyee, Greg called the 2 of us heartless for missing soooooooo many of his calls!)
First & foremost, Greg MISSES us alot! He sends his regards and apologises for being MIA for so long bcos the connection in US is apparently SCREWED UP. Plus, he has to travel quite a distance to get a decent connection. Yep.
He is currently working in one of the Restaurants in Sea World. Located in Orlando, Central Florida (correct me if i am wrong) and having fun. I heard from him tt he has made alot of friends.
And his pay is lucrative! Now i knw y Ade bought so much things tt time when she was in US! haha...
That is all for now. I leave greg to update u all when he is back in August.
In any case, if anyone reali reali misses greg so much, u all can get his overseas number from me. (",) I am sure he would be very very happy if one of you pops up one day and calls him suddenly!
p.s.
Greg's working hours are from 11a.m till 6p.m. (US Time) and he sleeps at 11pm (US Time)
So would have to call him after his working hours perhaps from 6p.m. (US time) onwards... which is 6a.m. till 11a.m. (Singapore time) haha...

My trip at a glance

From left to right,
(1) Many steps leading to a temple in Takao, Kyoto
(2) More steps leading to another temple
(3) Our Ryokan-like experience in Yamanaka
(4) The street nest to the Higashiyama Youth Hostel in Kyoto
(5) Backview of a dressed-up Geiko in Kyomizudera, Kyoto. It is likely that this is not a real geiko.
(6) Bad prayer lots tied to a tree outside the Heian Shrine.
(7) View of a temple in Koyasan. The roof is made up of flakes of wood.
(8) Wish plaques (e-ma) outside another temple. I wrote one for 500 yen (~S$7).
(9) Us in the ryokan room after onsen (hot spring), dinner and guzzling sake with our lecturers. My lecturer was imitating the typically stern and sombre Japanese sensei.

Last night in Kyoto
Yea! For the first time since I reach Japan, I actually managed to return to the youth hostel with more than enough time to bathe! That's the main drawback of youth hostels - they have allocated times for meals, bathing, check-in/out and if you miss the times there's not much room for negotiation. Managed to explore Kyoto without the help of our Japan hosts :) Have tried to take pictures but the pretty gardens are really quite impossible to be captured on a tiny print. And yah I think the people there are really better-looking than Singaporeans, probably 70% has something to do with the packaging. The guys wear suits so they already look smarter. The girls are very well-groomed with very nice hair. Great for people-watching.
Next stop, Osaka!

日本へいきましょう!(Japan trip finally!)
Hey hey!
I have finally embarked on the long-awaited trip to Japan! We did not take any tour packages the entire trip is planned by us and my lecturer’s japanese friends. Made our first stop in Kyoto...but haven't really explored Kyoto as we have been embarking in VERY adventurous nature walks (think: rivers, steep slopes and lots of steps for ~ 8 km in 17 degree weather). Anyway if you guys want to go to Japan on a strict budget, a great way to save is via accomodarion in Youth Hostels as they are quite cheap with clean rooms and reasonable facilities. The only drawback is that they I'm currently in a ryokan in Ishigawa Prefecture, where I have just went to an onsen (which made me drowsy) and basically stuffed myself with food. Will be going back to Kyoto tomorrow :) Ok unlike Greg, I have no photos to offer as I have been a very lazy photographer and I'm using the ryokan PC :) Argh. Boring post.
