A Double Crested Cormorant, rescued by Newport Beach Animal Control and brought to WWCC, was suffering from fishing gear entanglement. Upon admission, a radiograph was taken, which revealed a large hook in its gizzard and a BB lodged in its shoulder. After being stabilized for several days, surgery was performed today to remove the hook and BB.
