I bought this coconut tree online in February 2021 and left it outside in a 15 gal pot until December 2021. Then I brought it inside and kept it in the house for about 4 months, using an indoor grow light to help it get enough light during winter.

Feb 29, 2024 · The coconut tree is soaking up weather in the mid 40s inside its enclosure during a Houston snowstorm. Took a night in the upper 20s this year before I put up the greenhouse around it with only the lower half covered with no heat.

Oct 30, 2017 · If they're that desperate for palms, at least go with a trachycarpus. Some may actually survive, and honestly, patrons aren't going to even notice the difference between a coconut palm and a windmill palm. Bananas are the same way - I think most people don't even know there are more than one kind of palm tree or banana tree. That is sad.

Mar 28, 2019 · But it's still way too cold for coconut palms. The climate is actually very similar to Eureka in northern California. Both locations have mild temperatures year-round and are pretty damp due to the abundance of rainfall. Never warm or hot, which is what you need. And you certainly can't grow coconut palms in Eureka...
