If the foam has dried up, it will need to be replaced and Knoll has machines that forms the foam for their chairs and most re-upholstery shops do not have access to this, it will have to be hand shaped/sculpted.

Dec 6, 2008 · The Womb chair has a lot of very organic curves. If you pick too hard a leather (e.g. Knoll's Acqua or Volo) you may risk it forming funny crinkles or bumps at some of the deeper curves. Its for the same reason they don't usually do any of the Bertoias in leather.

Jan 22, 2008 · Now, keep in mind that I bought this chair when the price was only $895, but in any event, it's a really well done reproduction. The weight is identical to the original and I never feel like the Womb chair will collapse because my 200lbs is sitting on it. Main diffs: fabric isn't boucle, shell of chair isn't fiberglass, but plastic.
