USS King (DLG-10/DDG-41)
USS King (DLG-10/DDG-41) Association. The USS King Association was formed in 2001 as a non-profit group dedicated to reconnecting shipmates, sharing memories, and coordinating reunions. First reunion held in San Diego in 2002. Reunions are hosted throughout the country annually. The 2023 reunion will be held in Colorado Springs, CO.

The year of 1966 saw the USS KING (DLG-10) engaged in several new tactical and operational activities. She also served as the flagship for the Commander of Destroyer Squadron FIFTEEN at various times during the year.

The 1965 WestPac Cruise for the USS King (DLG-10) began on 5 April 1965 and concluded on 2 November 1965. The King was awarded two armed Forces Expeditionary Medals and three Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medals while deployed.

The 1972-73 WestPac Cruise for the USS King (DLG-10) began on 2 October 1972 and concluded on 21 April 1973. These deck logs are split into two sections with Part 1 covering the period from 1 October 1972 through 31 December 1972 and Part 2 covering 1 January 1973 through 30 April 1973.

While operating off the Virginia Capes on the morning of 7 FEB 1980, heavy seas washed four king sailors overboard as they attempted to asses the damage received during a storm at sea. One sailor, BM2 Bernard Mcginess, was recovered after 12 minutes. The remaining three sailors were lost at sea.
