D&D 5E Tortle Monks? - EN World
Dec 30, 2020 · How does a Tortle's natural armor interact with classes which modify armor calculation? For example, the monk class says (when not wearing armor) "AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Wisdom modifier." The Tortle entry says you have a base AC of 17 and that Dex does not change this...

Jul 11, 2019 · I'm making a Monk Tortle, and two skills contradict each other. Tortles have the skill natural armor, giving them a base AC of 17, they can't wear armor, and you don't add the DEX Mod. Monks have the skill Unarmored Defense, giving them an AC equal to …

Jul 11, 2019 · IMO, tortle is totally a powergaming choice for monks. It solves the hard problems of the class, that it is very MAD and lacks armor. Yes they have offseting abilities, but tortles still have those abilities, plus a better AC. Arguably, monk is the "best" class for a tortle to play.

Dec 30, 2020 · Tortle is the only way I've found to do a STR monk. Dex monk is still generally superior because you get higher AC over time, and can combine Crusher, Open Hand, and Elven Advantage for knockdowns, shoves, and advantage-granting every turn.
D&D 5E 1 level dip into cleric as tortle monk - EN World
Feb 5, 2018 · I'm starting a ToA campaign with some friends and made a tortle strength based Monk. I'm looking into going into Drunken Master at higher level. I'm thinking about doing a one level dip into cleric for Shield of Faith to get AC up to 19. It seems like having a higher AC for redirect attack. Also a few spells can add a lot of gameplay variation.

Jul 16, 2019 · Should the same offset be offered to players that want to play a Gith Arcane Trickster (Mage Hand overlap)? A Firbolg Gloom Stalker (Disguise Self overlap)? How about a Lizardfolk Monk or Barbarian (unarmored AC overlap)? How about a Half-Orc Rogue or Wizard (these classes don't need +2...

Dec 31, 2020 · From my experience, a Wood Elf Monk is exactly the kind of guy who can run away from danger. Far away. And even try to Hide as soon as he gets outdoors. However my Wood Elf Monk kept sneaking towards the danger, and due to huge base speed was stealthing while keeping to what the other PCs...
D&D 5E MotM: thoughts on races in Monsters of the Multiverse
Jan 18, 2022 · In contrast, the least effective build is probably a tortle monk, so no ninja tortles for you. The range of skills provided by Nature’s Intuition is unexpectedly broad (shared with Lizardfolk). Perception, Stealth, and Survival are all as useful as they are out of place (“as stealthy as a tortle” seems an odd phrase to me).
