There is something that I have been wondering about when taking long shots where some slope angle is involved. It involves the turret adjustment in MOA to compensate for the slope angle. If I tilt my scope at a 20 degree angle, and adjust my scope 25 MOA.

I'd opt for slope front and back at the angle of repose for loose material, more like 30 degrees for long term protection against severe erosion problems. Run a test fill pile to check on what works. Better to kw ahead of time rather than fighting the slope later.

The Bushnell 1 Mile rangefinder helps establish the shooting angle. When measuring the effect of gravity on a bullet’s trajectory, it needs to be done on a level line, perpendicular to the line of gravity. When shooting uphill or down, you need to know the level distance.

Maintaining Stability: When shooting at extreme angles, maintaining a stable shooting position is more challenging. Use bipods, shooting sticks, or other stabilizing equipment to help manage recoil and maintain accuracy.

While there are a number of ways to determine the proper range and aim when shooting at an angle—such as primitive charts that show the angle with relation to your bullet drop—a modern range finder is the best tool a hunter can use.
