From 1946 to 1967, it hosted a passenger train that shared the canyon's more familiar moniker, the Royal Gorge. The Grande's friendly connection at Salt Lake City, UT for service to the San Francisco Bay Area was Western Pacific, and between 1948 and 1950, the WP also briefly ran a train called the Royal Gorge.

May 29, 2016 · Where was the conductor on the train when she fell off ~ don't know. Why was she where she was ~ don't know. Was there a locomotive on the downhill side or was the ex-VIA generator car the first car ~ don't know. From reading these posts I can tell that many of the posters are not familiar with the equipment used on the Royal Gorge train.
