Kratom leaves contain two major psychoactive ingredients (mitragynine and 7-hydroxymytragynine).
DEA’s National Forensic Laboratory Information System (NFLIS) Drug database, which collects drug analysis information from participating federal, state and local forensic laboratories, indicates that there were 506 reports of mitragynine, the primary active alkaloid in kratom, in 2019.
