85 BB, Anyone know the difference between 85BB and the 85FS?
Apr 24, 2012 · The BB designation is an older model. I have two Beretta 84BB's. Both are 13 round and the bluing is very impressive. The BB's also have more of a rounded or smooth overall design, if you will. I think the 85BB will be a single-stack mag. Probably 8 rds. or so. The FS is a much newer design and has sharper edges and a squared off trigger guard.

Background on the Beretta 85 BB please. - Handgun Forum
Feb 28, 2016 · Although the 85BB is an older model, many prefer the rounded trigger guard for carry. When you move to the newer 85F or FS the safety also de-cocks. (I have an 84F) I'm not sure how involved the process is, but you may be able to upgrade the BB safety, but typical owners just add an 85F to the stable if its that important.

Beretta Serial # Lookup IS BACK! - Handgun Forum
Jul 6, 2023 · Nice, thanks! Was able to date most of my Beretta collection. Wasn’t able to date the Italian guns, the 92SB, the 92SB Type M, 92 SB Compact, 92F, and surprisingly, a 92 FS Inox. I’m not quite sure if the Inox is a US gun or an Italian gun. I guess I’ll have to get it out to see if it says “Made it Italy” on it…
Re: Beretta 84fs and 85fs | Handgun Forum
Jul 10, 2014 · The mag well on the 85 isn't wide enough to accept an 84-series mag, even the 10-round version. Otherwise the 85 models and 84 models are identical, except I think the 85's never got the squared off trigger guard and stopped equivalent to an 84BB. At least all my Beretta 85s are 85BB models. The major difference is truly in the size of the grip.

Questions/problems with an 85F - Handgun Forum
Jun 9, 2013 · I can't get my Beretta model 85BB-cal.9 short to field strip. I got the switch above the trigger to turn all the way like it's supposed to to release the barrel but it's not releasing and now won't let me push the switch back up either. Very upset about this. Love this gun

Oct 4, 2022 · This gets talked about a lot at another forum. Beretta tends to make guns in batches. And, sometimes you wait years before they get around to making and importing the a specific model (here into the USA). A couple years back, people waited almost 2 years for the CX4 to be sold here in the states again.
