Even when I went back to have the prongs changed, they refused to do a traditional four-prong setting. The only thing they would do, was set the basket on top of the shank, so that my wedding ring will sit flush.

Jun 30, 2014 · I think you can't go wrong with a low profile basket with the diamond set as close to the post as possible with culet almost touching the post. I will also have the alpa post in place of the fiction/screw post. It is stronger and safer if the diamond rest on top of the gallery and and the prongs push down on the diamond.

The 5 stone is very easy to clean because there are only 5 diamonds / 5 cleaning holes; the eternity (basket set) is easier to clean but I don''t have the patience to do a thorough job because there are 18 holes and I never know where I started from.

Any comments on the martini setting in general will be helpful. Also, I would appreciate any comments on screw backs vs friction backs on earrings.

Changing stud settings, from 3-prong martini to 8-prong or
Oct 3, 2024 · I have 1.80 ctw studs that I bought preloved in a basic 4-prong basket. I switched them out to a 6-prong cathedral Stuller setting. WF would not sell me their $475 settings because I did not buy the stones from them. I went to my local jeweler and bought the settings for $300 and paid $100 to set. They have a flat back and are very comfortable.

Feb 1, 2012 · The 4 prong basket seems to be the most common type, but how visible is the basket and how far out are the diamonds set? I'm not a huge fan, but these pictures are obviously taken very closely and I'm sure they are fan. I'm guessing this is probably what I will get. The wildcard is the 8 prong.
Is diamond set too high in solitaire pendant basket?
May 23, 2016 · It’s ready to ship but my gut says the diamond is set too high (the culet is positioned halfway between the top wire and bottom wire of the basket. The whole basket setting looks quite tall. Is it normal for the diamond’s girdle to be this far above the top basket wire? I had envisioned the culet would be positioned just above the bottom wire.
