The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was founded in 1880. The original church, known as Saints Peter and Paul, was a small wooden building located at the southwest corner of Marietta and Alexander Streets, twelve blocks west of the present location.

A Parking Lot is accessed from Ralph McGill, which is free for our use from Friday 5pm through Sunday 9pm., and again on Wednesdays from 5pm through 9pm. Simply take a ticket, and validate it the Basilica’s entryway as you enter or leave Mass.

Hence, to have a child younger than seven years old baptized at Sacred Heart, you must do the following: 1. Fully complete the Baptism Request Form. 2. Be a registered member of The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for more than three months.

Weddings at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are open to both parishioners and non-parishioners. One member of the wedding couple must be a Catholic. Scheduling a wedding should be done at least six months before the desired date.
