Texas Jack Jr. (c. 1860 – 1905), who adopted the name of his rescuer and childhood protector, Texas Jack Omohundro, ran an international traveling Wild West Show and Circus.

Texas Jack Jr. taught him how to do lasso tricks and Will Rogers later regarded his association with Texas Jack, Jr. as one of the most important periods of his life. In the late 1860's, there occurred a terrible drought in the state of Tennessee.

Texas Jack Junior, who dropped the "Junior" when he began to perform outside the United States, married fellow performer Lily Dunbar on March 25th, 1891 in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia.

May 18, 2020 · Texas Jack took the children to a Fort Worth orphanage where he sold the ponies and generously offered to fund their education. For the rest of his life, the boy called himself “Texas Jack Jr.”

Texas Jack, Jun. took his name because as a five-year-old child he had been rescued by the frontier scout and Old West gunfighter Texas Jack Omohundro, whose real name was John Baker Omohundro (1846-1880).

May 1, 1995 · John Burwell (Texas Jack) Omohundro, Jr., frontier scout, actor, and cowboy, was born on July 26, 1846, to J. B. and Catherine (Baker) Omohundro at Pleasure Hill, near Palmyra, Virginia, the fourth of twelve children. He received some formal elementary education.

Texas Jack is John Baker Omohundro—soldier, Texas cowboy, frontier scout for the Army, actor, and star. Born in Virginia in 1846, he served as a headquarters courier during the Civil War before joining JEB Stuart's cavalry as a scout.
