Google has dug back into its past and introduced its latest take on smart glasses during I/O 2025. Glasses with Android XR brings Gemini AI to smart glasses thanks to an expanded partnership between Google and Samsung.

We told you Google would be gunning for Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses with its Android XR “spatial computing” platform that was announced last year. At its I/O developer conference today, the tech giant said it’s teaming up with Xreal for a pair of next-gen augmented reality smart glasses called Project Aura.

The Aura glasses are expected to launch for consumers between the end of this year and early next year, likely costing thousands of dollars.
