The lake is located a 20-25 minutes boat ride away from Coron Island in Palawan. It's said to get its name from the skeleton of a large barracuda fish that was once discovered in it.

A trip to Coron is not complete without a visit to Kayangan Lake. This is one of seven inland lakes on the big island and public access is limited to only Kayangan and Barracuda Lake for divers.

So, in case you're planning to go to Coron this summer, you might want to check them out. Jerald had a chance to explore Barracuda Lake, one of the two lakes in Coron that have been open to public.

Most of them are sacred to the Tagbanua tribe, the indigenous community who have nurtured and maintained Coron Island for generations. Only two are open to tourists: Kayangan Lake and Barracuda Lake.
