The Bank of Ireland UK debit card is a single global debit card that can be used at home or abroad, with access to millions of retail outlets and cash machines worldwide.

Wherever you see the Visa logo, you can:

  • Use your Visa debit card. It can be used in shops and online in over 35 million places worldwide.
  • In addition you can withdraw cash at any cash machine displaying the LINK and/or Visa logo,. We don’t charge for making a cash withdrawal in pounds in the UK from cash machines. However, some providers may. The machine will give you notice that you may be charged.
  • The Bank of Ireland UK debit card is protected by Verified by Visa.

Spend Alerts

Spend alerts are push notifications from Bank of Ireland that help to prevent fraud on your debit card. You can turn spend alerts off or on in the cards section of your app or 365 online.

 

Contactless payments

If your card features this contactless symbol, then your card will allow you to make purchases up to a maximum value of £100 in seconds at home and abroad.

Charges

Charges apply for making debit card payments in a foreign currency and for cash withdrawals in a foreign currency made in the UK, outside of the EEA or not in €. There are no charges for withdrawing Euros at Bank of Ireland cash machines in Ireland. Please refer to our Personal Account Charges Explained brochure.
