I happened upon this and decided to try it out for my Kindle Fire HD and now I wouldn't be without it! I write down reminders almost - no definitely - to an rather obsessive degree. My brain just doesn't hold onto things and I make little lists constantly. So aside from saving paper, this is just a super handy app to have in general. I don't think I've fully discovered all it's features yet, but the few basic ways I use it are great for my needs. I love that I can color code each list, I'm very visual and it offers a couple nice ways to view the lists, as colored boxes or as a list (see screen shots). I can use it in portrait or landscape mode. I also love the choice between a checklist mode, where I can tap an item to cross it off (or uncross it), and the text mode where I just enter a note to myself. I like that I can create the note on "yellow paper", which is much easier on my eyes than typing onto a white screen. I also appreciate the email feature that allows me to send a note I make to my email account. I do this a lot at night, if I'm in bed and think of something important: I make a note on my kindle, email it and then I see it the next day when I'm in my office at my desktop PC.

I had this for a while and loved it before one day discovering it has a calendar! I have no idea how I didn't know that, although I don't see much mention of the calendar in the description so maybe it isn't entirely my fault for not knowing about it. Anyway, now I'm doubly in love because I had been looking for a basic calendar app and hadn't found one I like. It's a basic calendar, nothing fancy, but it serves my needs nicely. I tried setting a reminder however and never heard it. I don't know if it didn't work or if I did something wrong, but I haven't bothered to investigate much since the reminder feature isn't something I will need often.

This app has functioned perfectly in the features that I use, and offers me a simple, enjoyable way to keep track of all my little lists I make throughout the day, week and month. I highly recommend it!

I started using ColorNotes several months ago on my mobile, and it was among the first apps I looked for when I got a Kindle Fire. It's a very easy app to set up, you decide whether you want to create essentially a text document or a checklist, then type in what you want to save, just like other note-taking apps. Copying/pasting from other docs works well, too, though you can't turn a text doc into a checklist, or at least I haven't figured that one out yet. (If I do, I'll add that to this review.)

One can even color-code their notes, as well as name those categories (such as naming the green notes "household"), and organize notes by those categories or in simple alpha order.

Some reviewers mentioned the inability to save notes. Really? ColorNote offers an online backup to their cloud, which you can set up to sync your notes manually or every time you open the app. Don't trust their cloud? Then you can use your backup app (you do have a backup app, right?) to backup your notes to your device or SD card or to the backup app's server. Don't use a backup app? Then save individual notes to your SD card. Or after saving to SD, you can plug your device into your computer and copy the notes over for even more backing up. And if none of those options sound appealing, use their Send feature to copy to the clipboard and paste into another doc, send as an attachment, email it to yourself or someone else, send via Bluetooth, or post it to Facebook. There's also a feature called Archive that I suspect backs up the notes in a different manner, but I have not used it so can't say for certain if that is yet another way to save your notes. But including Archive, that's THIRTEEN ways and places you can backup all that data you entered.

And if those features aren't enough for you, you can also password-protect any or all of your notes. Use the built-in calendar to send yourself a reminder to do whatever you typed into a certain note. Run a search of all your notes for a word or phrase. Use their online-sync feature to always have your most up-to-date notes sync between the devices you use the app on -- for me that syncs my notes on my mobile and my Fire so there's no need to figure out which is the "correct" version.

Each time I've thought of something I'd like to organize and look around for apps to do it, most if which cost a few bucks, I realize that my trusty ColorNotes will do the same thing.

I'd happily pay money for all this but the developer is generous enough to provide all of this FOR FREE. Seriously. You might find all these features in some other app, but you're already looking into this one so just go ahead and press that download button, I'm sure you'll be pleased.

I love this app. I have it on my phone and I'm adding it now to my kindle. It's a perfect note app, you can do checklists or regular notes, you can pin them to your status bar, you can color code notes (Ex. Green for upcoming appointments, blue for shopping list etc), you can lock lists with a pin so that the info is secure even if someone opens it up the only thing they could view would be whatever you title it. You can set up reminders and archive old notes instead of deleting them if you're not 100% sure you're done with them but you want to get rid of the clutter.

Literally this app is the only thing that keeps my life even mildly on track. I use it several times a day and every time I love how simplistic it is. Other apps are just to much- this is the equivalent of carrying a notebook with perks with you everywhere

5.0 out of 5 stars Meine Lieblingsapp für Notizen
Reviewed in Germany on March 31, 2014
