Evaluation

RatingB-

Riryoku is a very powerful card and ranks highly in terms of card efficiency due to its ability to both decrease your opponent’s monster ATK and add it to your own. Unlike equip cards, Riryoku could only be negated by spell jammer or counter traps which could negate spell effects. Could be included in most decks that otherwise do not use effect damage to win.

Pros

  • Very useful to defeat any high level attack monster.
  • Damage dealt is similar to direct damage, since it is the base attack of the attacking monster.
  • Very flexible card.

Cons

Only useful for 1 turn.

Tips

This cards effect only lasts for a turn, so use it wisely. It's usually best to use it on targets that have higher ATK than anything you have on the board or in your hand.

Riryoku works well in any beatdown deck and is necessary to decks to get high score with Over 5,000 (9,999) Damage duel assessment.

still 9? lol SRH way better than this

Srh is cheap card. Don't promote it dude.

How is a card that destroys monsters and a cards that halfs attack and give other half to your own comaparable? That's like saying "lol sphere kuriboh is better than mirror wall"
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
If I’m reading the effect correctly, SRH only destroys the monster at the start of the damage step, your opponent takes no damage from the battle. Riryoku on the other hand could potentially end a game singlehandedly with the ATK swing it can provide. They both have their own uses, so it isn’t a perfect comparison to be fair.

Hey has anyone tried using it on your own monsters? I reduced attack of 1 to increase the other to see what would happen but afterwards the game would not let me enter battle phase and I just had to end my turn. Why did that happen?

Maybe there was some kind of card effect that forced you to skip your battle phase, or didn’t allow you to attack for whatever reason, assuming you didn’t try to do this on turn 1. Always gotta watch out for those cards. But this card does work with your own monsters, so that wouldn’t be the problem.

Just imagine: This, but it's a quick-spell...

It's not a Quick-Play Spell, but that basically describes Honest effectively. (Both will have the net result of the opponent's monster losing and them taking damage equal to the ATK your monster had beforehand.)

Another what-if, though: Imagine if this kept its anime effect. (Halving the opponent's LP instead of the ATK of one of their monsters.)

Shrink is similar, though it doesnt boost your own monsters attack, only halves theirs. It is a quick play tho

For sure, Or if it gave you a choice between halving the LP or the monster’s attack, since halving the LP might not be much of a boost if they have low LP.

Also if the attack boost was permanent like in the anime. This card would definitely be limited if it had its anime effects.

A fun way to play this is with invoked. Easily summon the 3000 attack earth invoked and then Riryoku any of your opponents monster and you add that to your earth invoked and then boost up with Aleister and deal exactly 4000 damage every.

Thanks for the tip. Great idea!

Best card 2018 WCS easily 10/10

Not sure why this card is rated as a 9.5. You should only ever run this card in farming decks to increase Cerberus's attack, and never in PVP. Cards like Metalmorph or even other continuous spells such as Gravity Axe are more useful since they are permanent buffs and can't be negated as easily as Riryoku. Nearly every deck has Windstorm of Etaqua, and 1 or more copies of both Enemy Controller and Sphere Kuriboh, which basically just makes Riryoku a wasted card

This card was great but after kc cup it became crap. Great for farming. No good PvP pmdeck will have it. To many common counters and doesn't stay on your character.

It should be rated like grave keeper vassal. 10/10 for farming and 3/10 for PvP.

All the people saying this card sucks are conceited, elitist assholes.
It's good for farming AND for PvE. And the fact that it's not your precious enemy controllers doesn't mean you're not an asshole for saying it deserves a 3/10.
A card can be very good, and still not be a staple.
🔥 off with your pretentiousness.

Nai-naich Reply
and what will you propose as the Pvp rating of the card? you don't get it, riryoku is frowned upon not because its a subpar ATK-enhancing card that is easily counter-able, but because it's not a quick-play spell. IN SHORT, IT IS NOT FLEXIBLE. oftentimes, board control is important as early as your opponent's turn, and riryoku's pacing is just SLOW and LINEAR.

I have one of these, should I get a second one from the card trader or save my jewels and see what else comes up

This card suck now , not like old day ,

Nope. With wod and mirror wall running rampant, it's still good.

If you are good player you would know if the set card is quick spell or trap card (which most of cases happen to be those 2)

Back on my childhood I wasn't aware that only quick-spell type can be activate during battle phase. All those scenes on anime where main character activate their equip spell on battle phase is a lie. Lol noob DM.

It's up to you. The card itself is good, it can help you go over opponent's attack disregard of their WoD/ mirror wall. But I only keep 1 because I have other cards that does the same
