Another Sewing Drawer ...

Hello my dear friends,

so before I start sharing my newest creation with all of you today, I just wanted to point out that it is May 9th and it is snowing here in London, Ontario for the second day. It's only snowing a little bit but the white flakes are falling from the sky again.

I decided not to save my old drawers for my garage sale that might or might not happen anymore but instead use another one.

This time though I chose my little daffodils to grow in it. Again I am so pleased that I came up with this idea and that it worked out they way I hoped it would.

And here it is, I hope you will enjoy it!

I named it  "My Little Spring Daffodils"

This drawer still has it's original little wooden knob which was so nice.

After searching my studio for the right pot, I "planted" my little daffodils in this antique French shaving mug and it looks just perfect in my eyes and ...

... I dyed some hemp in a dark brown color to so it looked like fresh soil.

Again simplistic but pretty, just shouting out that Spring is here and again that little touch of farmhouse feel.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me today here at Todolwen and I hope you have enjoy your short stay.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have peaceful and creative day and stay healthy.

More Daisies ...

Hello my dear friends,

this morning it is snowing outside, yes, I did say snowing. It is May the 8th and all morning tiny bits of the white fluffy stuff have been falling off and on to the earth where I am.

Snow ... um where was I?! Oh, yes ... that's where I was! Sharing something new.

I am sharing a new creation with all of you that I made a little while ago but not yet posted here on Todolwen.

After I had made my little short stemmed daisies I just wanted to make more of them but with longer stems. Not being able to go out and shop, I took advantage of the curbside pick option at Michaels and bought several packets of the brown paper covered wire. Oh, the joy of being able to work, I can't tell you how happy that made me. I do really try to use what I have but this time I just had to order! Two days later I picked my "goody bag" up with a huge smile on my face, sand sanitizer at hand and off to work I went.

I have several old sewing machine drawers in my basement that I had designated for my next garage sale but since that might not happen this year I took advantage of using one of them for my newest pieces of work.

And here it is ...

..."Summertime Daisies"

I am so happy how it has turned out, exactly what I had in mind. Simplistic but pretty and with a little hint of farmhouse decor.

I hope you have enjoyed my newest creation. Do come back sometime soon, I have more news makings to share with you.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day and stay healthy.

A New Nest ...

Hello my dear friends,

Easter was very quiet here this time, just my younger daughter, our furry babies and me. No fancy treats, gifts or decorations, just simple, peaceful and nice and nice is good in my book. I did make something for our home though for the occasion, just one single piece but I love it.

I am making do with what I have with many things and that is what I did with my Easter decor. It was simple, pretty and perfect in my eyes. I had recently crochet a nest from garden twine but not done anything with it but now it was exactly what I needed for this time of the year. Combined with some fake pussy will twigs, a few of my sari silk daisies, some wooden eggs and dried grass that I had gathered late last summer it became my Easter nest and this is it.

I hope you enjoy it!

I have already shared this on Instagram but I went one step further.

I actually asked people if they would be interested in me making a DIY kit for this nest. I would  list it my Etsy shop on a order basis and it would have everything you need to make your own.

The kit would contain(so far) ...

... a crochet nest made from garden twine,
... 3 wooden eggs,
 ... 3 pussy willow twigs,
... 3 sari silk daisies (on short stems),
... 3 dandelion blowy flowers (also on short stems),
... 6 feet of seam binding (not sure of the colors yet),
... 3 feet of cotton lace,
... bedding for the nest (which is still be decided because I can't send grass)
... and maybe a few more bits and pieces but I am not quite sure just yet.

I can't tell you how happy I was because over 85% of the ones that took part in my poll taking said yes, they would be interested in such a kit!!

So my lovelies, now to you ...

... would you be possibly interested in such a kit? It wouldn't happen for a little while because of what is going on in the world right now and I am so trying to stay at home and not go out but then it might be something to look forward to for you and for me too. I love making stuff and this kit would be so much fun for me to put together and possibly for you to create your own nest too?!

So ... let me know your thoughts please!

It was so nice of you to stop by today again.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day and stay healthy.

Making Sari Silk Daisies ...

Hello my dear friends,

firstly I hope you are all at home as much as possible, staying safe and healthy.
If you have to be at work or out and about in any way, I wish you health and send you hugs. I am still trying to be as good as possible and staying at home, working on making my to-do list a little shorter and being creative too which seems to be working quite well these days. In a teeny tiny way it is good that I am "stuck" at home. It has made me work harder on being creative again and I am using more of my stash up too because I can't go out and buy anything new and I am not really missing that all that much as of right now.

As far as I am aware blogger has fixed the issue with the disappearing pictures so I have fixed the posts with my missing photos and I am happy about. I am unfortunately behind in sharing what I have been up to in the past weeks here on Todolwen but I will try and let you catch up as quickly as possible starting with a new creation in this post.

A little while ago I didn't know what to make so I went looking around in my studio. I peeked in all of the boxes, tins and baskets and then found this ... a ball of soft white sari silk ribbon.

It has been waiting patiently in a basket for me to come up with a design for it and now it's happened! Since it is still snowing off and on my thoughts went with summertime and flowers that grow in our garden and especially all of the pretty daisies that make an appearance every year. And there it was, my newest design/idea ... I would make daisies!

After making a lot of dandelion blowy flowers I only had ...

... short pieces of brown paper covered wire left but it would have to do.
I got to work right away and I was fortunate that my idea turned out exactly the way I wanted it too the first time. That always gives me that little buzz to continue with trying to make new things and work on new ideas and again it is working as of right now.

And here it is, my take on a silk daisy ...

I love that they are not perfect but they are my style in every way.
I hope you like my newest little making as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting me here at Todolwen and I hope you do come back some time again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Stay safe and stay healthy.
