A New Little Frozen Man Named Dickens ...

 Hello my dear friend,

today I am sharing my newest little frozen man with you and all I can say that it has taken me a while to get here but here I am!

He is made from white cotton batting and is a tradition little snowman. I have given him little dark coal eyes, a neat little carrot nose that is all frosted and glistening and vintage buttons live on his body. Crochet snowflakes made from sparkly scrubby yarn with clear glass beads have fallen from the sky and are resting happily on him. A large crochet snowflake and a pretty scarf made from strand of beautiful yarn are keeping him warm.

I can honestly say that he turned out sweeter than I thought he would and that makes me so happy.

He started like this ...

... a simple 'frozen man' with a cute carrot nose that was all glistening.

The next step is to give him the gift of sight ...

At first I thought a little hat to keep his head warm was the way to go but in the end I changed my mind.

And now he is done!
Here he is and I hoppe you like him.

His name is "Dickens" named after Charles Dickens and I think it suits him very well.

He will be for sale in my Etsy shop tonight at 7PM ET!  I know it's short notice for any one that is interested in him but I feel that I am already late with things.

Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting me here at Todolwen, it is always so nice when you do.

I am already on to my next project, a custom order for one of my little snowmen from last year. I am also busy working on another one or two simular to Dickens. So stayed tuned ... hopefully I will be able to share them soon.

I hope you are well my dear friend and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Fluffy, Puffy, Sparkly Snowflakes ...

 Hello my dear friends,

it's been a little while again, hasn't it?!

What have I been up too? ...

Well, our basement renovations were and are still on and off and instead of weeks, they have turned into months now. Then they had come to a complete stop for a few reasons, one of them because I had gotten COVID and obviously didn't want anyone in our house and also needed the peace and quiet to rest. I am testing negative since three weeks now and thankfully it wasn't too bad but the after effects are still somewhat there which includes being tired a lot and just having not much energy for anything. I am trying to do more these days and slowly but surely it's happening including being creative which is the best part.

I had started to work on a little something before I got sick and was now able to finally finish my idea and that is what I am sharing with you today!

I just LOVE snowflakes so of course I made neat fluffy, puffy, sparkly snowflake ornaments!

To me they almost look like sparkly and glistening snowflake maccaroons!

They are also very versatile again. They can decorate your Christmas tree, be a emblishment for a gift or wreath, hang in your window and again once you are done with them, they are perfect to scrub your dishes!

My snowflake ornaments are now listed in my Etsy shop as a custome made item. Why not pop over and take a look?!

Oh yes, I have also relisted some of my other Christmas pieces today. My crochet sparkly snowflake 'trees' from last year are back again ...

... and my little apples and pear ornaments are also available ...

And this little fellow ...

... is also listed again and he is my last one like this.

Talking about little frozen men, I am working a new design right now and here is a sneak peek for you!

I am making little carrot noses sparkle!

So that's all for today.

Thank you so much for stopping by, it is always so nice when you do. I hope you have enjoyed your short visit here at Todolwen and I am looking forward to your next one.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Making Things "Bloom" ...

 Hello my dear friend,

with renovations still an ongoing thing in our house, I continue to spend time sitting at my dining room table, trying to be productive when it comes to being creative and I think it's not going too bad.

I had recently bought some new sari silk in pure white to work with and was excited to make something "bloom" again.

I love making my silk hydrangeas and was looking forward to start working on my first one. I already knew that I wasn't going to just make one ...

... so I picked several pretty tarnished pieces for the bases.

A very calming part of creating my Hydrangeas is cutting lots and lots of small pieces of silk which I enjoy alot and a few days I finished my first one and that is what I am sharing with you today.

I dont' embellish my Hydrangeas other than making two hand stitched leaves also from sari silk in a beautiful shade of green.

This is the first "base" I chose to work with and I love it! It's a lid that had lost it's dish so perfect for my newest piece of work.

And this is my newest Hydrangea flower and I hope you enjoy it.

I have hand stitched just under 300 pieces of the white sari silk to a muslin base to make this pretty bloom.

What is my new piece? ... In my eyes it's just a simple pretty thing. It could just be a decorative piece or it could also be a useful piece, living it's life as a pretty pincushion.

(Sorry, that my photos aren't the best in the post. With Autumn here, daylight isn't the same as it is in the summer and I honestly prefer not to use lamps/lights for my photos.)

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what I have been up too. I hope you visit me here at Todolwen sometime again.

I hope you are well my dear friend and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Another Day, Another Pumpkin ...

 Hello my dear friends,

so again I spent a part of my day yesterday sitting at the dining room table whilst work was going on in our basement but I am not complaining!

My pumpkin was a success and sold right away! I thought I would make another one to keep myself busy and that is exactly what I have done. Again made from vintage velvet, this time in a subtle and soft brownish color. I chose a somewhat fancier old tarnished spoon for the stem and the same green seam binding as my first one for the bow.

I am very happy the way it turned out again and here it is ...

It is availabe in my Etsy shop this evening and where I have also relisted a few of last years pumpkins.

I am thinking if I am going to make another pumpkin or two possibly but I am not sure just yet. Looking at the velvet of today's pumpkin, I am wondering if I can change it's color like I did with the vintage green velvet I had recently found. So stay tuned on that one.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me here today, at Todolwen and I hope you will come back some time again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

Sitting At The Dining Room Table ...

 Hello my dear friends,

we are finally having our basement renovated after waiting for over a year after it flooded due to a failed repair in the house foundation when our house was built. That means that I sit at the dining room table normally for a good part of the day with my laptop to keep me entertained but not this morning, nor yesterday.

Yesterday I worked on a custom order of one of my 2022 pumpkins with the beaded fabric. I had to dye some seam binding to get the right shade of green I needed and I ended up dying meters and meters of it in all sorts of shades of green.

But I actually did get a shade of green that was perfect ...

... and my customer was very happy with it.

Now I had all this green seam binding, so I obviously had to do something with it so another pumpkin was due.

I love making my double layered seam binding frill so I decided that it would become a part of my newest pumpkin.

Lovely vintage velvet in a shade of grey that was perfect to become an Autumn fruit and that was my project for the morning. I finished it a little later making sure I added a nice bow made from my green seam binding and that is what I am sharing with you today.

And here it is ...

It is a 'simple' pumpkin, very pretty and possibly a little elegant and dare I say even a little 'posh' and I love the way it turned out! It is now listed for sale in my Etsy shop, why not pop over and take a look.

With renovations continuing for the next little while I am hoping to get a few more new pieces done.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have enjoyed your short stay.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.

More Autumn Fruit ...

 Hello my dear friends,

I have been busy and a few more of my newest pumpkins are now done.

They all turned out so nice with that neat and somewhat quirky soft brown tulle fabric. I made four as of right now and I am not sure if I will be making any more just yet. You have already seen the first one I made and today I am sharing the other three with you.

 Here they are ...

With pumpkins done for the moment, I have turn my attention to something a little different now. Last Winter I made a few snowmen bodies but not finished them, so that is what I am going to start working on now.

Want a little sneak peek? ... Here it is ...

Eventhough it is still summer time and it's hot outside and I really am enjoying it, I am already looking forward to the first snow fall of the year, so working on my snowmen is perfect for me right now.

My four pumpkins are going to be listed in my Etsy shop this evening in case any of you might be interested in one of them.

They are now listed!

It was so nice of you to stop by and visit me here at Todolwen and I hope you have enjoyed your short stay.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day.
