Considered by the vast majority of ‘experts’ in the EDM world as being the best in the world Garrix rose to EDM fame at 17. To have achieved such high status among DJs is extraordinary, but at almost 22 it is clear that if he continues to develop his talent he has an extremely successful career ahead of him.
David Guetta
Someone has to take second place and Guetta’s two decades of experience have served him well, making him a widely recognized name in the EDM world. The 49 year old Frenchman has been and is likely to continue to be one of the biggest names in the industry as it doesn’t look like his about to stop his career any time soon.
Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
Entertaining sold-out crowds in Belgium, this duo have been described as one of the hardest working men and very ambitious. Clearly hard work and an unwavering focus on maintaining their stellar reputation is paying off as these two have gained worldwide recognition among their peers and fans.
Hardwell
Robbert van de Corput has held the No. 1 position on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list twice in his career and although currently at 4th position van de Corput is still a force to be reckoned with, playing to huge crowds and his humanitarianism led him to found the United We Are charity for which he remains an ambassador.
Tiësto
Tijs Micheil Verwest has spent the past three decades honing his skills and talents to the point where he deservedly holds a spot among the Top 10 DJs worldwide. In 2014 Forbes listed Verwest as being the top earning DJ in the world, with estimated earnings of 22M. Madame Tussauds of London displays a wax image of the 48 year old Dutchman.
Steve Aoki
Based in California, USA Aoki is one of the busiest DJs and is in demand around the world. He has been a consistent place holder on the Top 10 list and has recently added doing voiceover for one of the characters in an upcoming movie to his repertoire of many talents. Aoki spends much of his time traveling and playing at gigs across the globe.
Deadmau5
Joel Zimmerman has adopted a number of personas during his DJ career but deadmau5 is arguably his best known. Another consistent place holder on the Top 10 list Zimmerman spends much of his time traveling the world in between recording remixes and collaborating with other artists.
Marshmello
True identity unconfirmed but rumored to be Chris Comstock, Marshmello, aside from being one of the best DJs in the world chooses to keep his identity concealed with a large marshmallow-shaped head piece. In two years this DJ has risen to fame and it will be no surprise to anyone ‘in the know’ to see this mystery DJ nearer the top of the list next year.
The Chainsmokers
This duo made third place on the Forbes highest earning DJ list by making a cool 38M in one year. They have collaborated with Britain’s Coldplay band and are slowly but surely rising in the ranks of top DJs in the world, aiming for that top spot. Despite their interesting name they are not habitual smokers.
Afrojack
At 6’ 9” tall Nick van de Wall has a very high likelihood of being the tallest DJ on the Top 10 list, but it is his talent that has him regularly appearing on DJ Magazine’s Top Ten DJs list. As well as a DJ van de Wall is a record producer and past winner of the MTV Europe Music Award Best Dutch Act in 2011 and has been nominated several times since.
