Leah Johns - Project Volunteer

As a former North-Queenslander, Leah was inspired to join the Country to Canberra team after hearing Hannah speak at a networking event in Canberra.

Leah grew up in small town in tropical Far North Queensland, but moved to Brisbane after finishing school to pursue university studies. Although she loved growing up between the rainforest and the beach, Leah also recognises the challenges faced by young women in rural and remote areas.

Leah joined Country to Canberra in 2017 as the Volunteer Director, and she now assists with managing the website.

Leah holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries, Graduate Diploma of Education (Senior Years), and a Master of Public Health. As a qualified high school teacher, Leah is passionate about supporting young women in rural and remote Australia to reach their full potential through learning and development.

Leah works full-time in health policy; when she’s not volunteering for Country to Canberra, she enjoys being active, and getting outdoors as much as possible.
